“In the shadows, we are free. In the dark, we are never alone.”
The Rat Shadow Cabal is a brotherhood of outlaws, salvagers, and digital phantoms. We strike quiet, move fast, and protect our own. No rat left behind. No mercy for those who’d leave us behind.
“We don’t scurry in the light. We thrive in the dark.”
History and Origins
Formed in the shadowy underbelly of the Stanton system, the Rat Shadow Cabal began as a whisper between outcasts, smugglers, and survivalists—those chewed up and spit out by the corporate machine and the cold indifference of the UEE. The founders, Shysley, an ex-Navy pilot with a reputation for daring extractions, and Happysammon, a former info-broker turned digital ghost, first crossed paths during a salvage op gone sideways on Grim HEX. Instead of turning on each other, they forged a pact—to build something more than a crew. Something resilient. Something loyal. A home in the shadows.
Name and Symbolism
The name “Rat Shadow Cabal” wasn’t chosen—it was earned. In the early days, enemies and rivals sneered at them as “rats,” hiding in the walls of civilization. But the founders reclaimed the insult. Rats survive. Rats adapt. And most of all, rats protect their own. The “shadow” is their shield—stealth, subtlety, misdirection. The “cabal” represents their inner circle of trust: a tight-knit, decentralized network where every member matters.
Cabal Operations
The Cabal moves silently across systems, conducting operations that most others would never dare attempt:
But where the Rat Shadow Cabal truly stands apart is not what they do—it’s why they do it. Behind every contract is a code: No rat left behind.
A Brotherhood in the Black
The void is cruel, but the Cabal is family. Inside the organization, members find more than shared profit—they find protection, guidance, and a lifeline when things go south. New pilots are mentored. Veterans are respected. If a member’s ship is down, others will fly through hell to pull them out. If someone’s credits are dry, the Cabal covers them. Because in the Rat Shadow Cabal, loyalty isn’t asked for—it’s earned and returned in full.
Whether you’re running from your past, rebuilding after loss, or just looking for a crew that won’t stab you in the back when the comms go dark, the Cabal is your last, best option.
Philosophy
To live as Cabal is to embrace the shadows—not as a place to hide, but as a space to grow stronger, smarter, and more connected. The verse is full of giants, tyrants, and corps that think they own everything. But in the cracks, beneath their radar, we build something better. A brotherhood. A sanctuary.
A reckoning.
“In the shadows, we are free. In the dark, we are never alone.”
I. We Are the Forgotten
The verse doesn’t care about the ones left behind.
The suits, the syndicates, the corps—they chew you up, grind your bones into dust, and fly on without a second glance.
We were left in the wreckage. And from that wreckage, we built a home.
We are smugglers, salvagers, hackers, outcasts, veterans, ghosts.
We are the Rat Shadow Cabal.
We do not beg. We do not bow. We endure.
II. Shadows Are Shelter
Let them chase glory in the limelight. Let them die trying to be seen.
We thrive where others dare not go—asteroid belts, dead systems, ghost relays, broken hulls in silent space.
We are the ones behind the firewall, under the floor, between the cracks.
We are whispers on comms, unknown signatures in the dark, the “glitch” that turns into an ambush.
Visibility is vulnerability.
In shadows, we don’t just hide—we hunt.
III. The Cabal Is Family
You can buy a crew. You can rent loyalty.
But you cannot fake what we have.
We fly with those who’ve proven themselves—not with words, but with grit, scars, and silence kept.
Inside the Cabal, you’re never left behind. If your ship’s shot, we’ll haul your wreck. If your life’s on the line, we’ll pull you out. If you’ve got nowhere else to go, you’ve already found us.
Every member watches the others’ six.
Every rat has teeth.
IV. Knowledge Is Power
A bullet ends a life. A secret ends a war.
We deal in information as much as in cargo.
We manipulate comms, fake logs, forge identities, reroute scans.
Where knowledge flows, so does our influence.
And we never let the verse know who’s really pulling the strings.
V. We Take What We Need
If it’s floating, we salvage it.
If it’s locked, we crack it.
If it belongs to someone who wouldn’t hesitate to burn us? It’s already ours.
We don’t steal from the desperate. We don’t feed off our own.
But when a corp leaves a freighter adrift, when a bounty hunter leaves a body cold, when a warlord leaves resources to rot—we reclaim what they’ve wasted. That’s not theft. That’s justice.
VI. We Don’t Break—We Adapt
The Cabal doesn’t run on hierarchy or fear.
We don’t answer to empires or gods.
We move, we evolve, we endure.
When the heat gets too close, we vanish.
When opportunity opens, we strike.
And when one of us falls, we rise stronger in their name.
Our Promise
To those who wear our mark:
You will not be alone. You will not be silenced. You will not be forgotten.
To those who cross us:
You will not see us coming.
You will not hear us leave.
But you will never forget we were there.
We are the rats in the walls of the verse.
We are the shadow beneath your sensor ping.
We are the Cabal.
And we are watching.
“In the dark, we endure. In the black, we belong.”
The Rat Shadow Cabal exists to provide sanctuary, purpose, and power to the forgotten, the forsaken, and the fearless.
We are smugglers, salvagers, saboteurs, and shadows.
We are a decentralized network bound not by laws, but by loyalty.
We do not seek power through dominion—we claim it through survival, unity, and precision.
We are the glitch in the system. The claw beneath the console. The reckoning they never saw coming.
1. No Rat Left Behind
Every Cabal member is kin. We fly together, fight together, fall together—and rise again together.
Leave no wreck unchecked. Leave no signal unanswered. Leave no blood debt unpaid.
2. Shadows are Shelter
We do not posture in public. We do not announce our presence.
In stealth, we are safe. In silence, we are lethal.
3. Earned, Never Given
Titles, trust, and tasks are earned through action, not words.
A Cabal member is judged by their scars, not their stories.
4. Feed the Cabal, Not the Corps
We take what is wasted. We salvage what is lost.
We do not serve the corporate war machine.
We do not bleed for tyrants. We build our own verse beneath their feet.
5. Adapt or Vanish
The verse is fluid. So are we.
Command is situational. Decisions are decentralized.
We do not cling to broken systems—we evolve or we die.
The Cabal operates as a decentralized cell network, bound by trust, not rank.
Founders:
Shysley and Happysammon—keepers of the flame, speakers of the Cabal’s first oath.
Circle Rats (Core Cell Leads):
Leaders of operational cells. Trusted to organize missions, train initiates, and keep the Cabal connected.
Each Circle Rat operates independently but shares intel with the web.
Shadows:
Proven members. Trusted with advanced intel, tactical decisions, and extraction authority.
Strays:
New blood. Earning their scars. Learning the code.
Every Shadow was once a Stray.
Cabal missions fall under the following categories:
All missions follow one prime directive:
Do not compromise the Cabal.
1. Protect the Cabal Above All
No betrayal. No exposure. No unnecessary risks.
Loose lips get spaced.
2. Respect Among Rats
Every member is valuable. Ego gets you ghosted.
Support, don’t sabotage.
3. No Civilian Casualties Without Cause
We are predators, not monsters. Unnecessary bloodshed weakens us.
When we strike, it must mean something.
4. Keep the Code Clean
No double-dealing with corps. No snitching. No unauthorized solo ops that endanger the group.
5. Repayment Is Sacred
Debts to the Cabal are paid in kind—time, skill, fire, or credits.
A rat who bleeds for you deserves your blood in return.
Every new member must swear the following oath before their first sanctioned op:
“I walk in shadow, not for fear, but for freedom.
I bleed for those who would bleed for me.
I take only what I must, and I leave no one behind.
I am a rat, I am the shadow, I am the Cabal.”
Violating the Charter invites one of three fates
We are not a fleet. We are not a faction.
We are a movement. A family. A force beneath the radar
We are the Rat Shadow Cabal.
