History

Origins in the Chaos of the Frontier
Symptom Enterprise was born in the tumultuous years following the expansion of human-controlled space into the fringes of the galaxy. The organization traces its roots to a chance meeting of its founding members in a bustling yet unassuming bar on the outskirts of Goss III’s central spaceport. These individuals, disillusioned by the harsh, often morally ambiguous realities of corporate-dominated trade, exploration, and colonization, bonded over a shared vision: to create a collective that upheld moral integrity while allowing its members the freedom to pursue their passions.

Founders and Early Days
The founding group consisted of diverse individuals—traders, explorers, ex-military personnel, and independent contractors—each with unique skills but a common desire to build something more meaningful than the cold contracts of mega-corporations or the ruthless competition of mercenary guilds. They named the organization “Symptom Enterprise” to reflect the idea that it would act as a symptom of a better way of life, one focused on mutual respect, moral clarity, and personal growth.

In its early years, Symptom Enterprise primarily focused on small-scale trade and exploration. Operating on the fringe of UEE space, the group scouted uncharted systems, mapped hazardous jump points, and forged routes through resource-rich asteroid fields. These efforts not only brought in much-needed credits but also established the organization’s reputation as skilled navigators and pathfinders in the unknown reaches of space.

Building a Reputation
As word spread about the enterprise’s principles and its willingness to support the downtrodden, Symptom Enterprise began attracting like-minded individuals. These new members brought fresh perspectives and talents, enabling the organization to diversify its operations. Alongside trade and exploration, the group ventured into resource extraction, convoy protection, and humanitarian aid.

Exploration remained a core pillar of their identity. Members frequently undertook missions into uncharted territories, documenting stellar phenomena, ancient ruins, and forgotten colonies. While these missions often presented significant risks, the data and discoveries yielded immense value, both financially and culturally.

The group’s refusal to compromise on its moral code often put it at odds with larger, less scrupulous entities. However, its reputation for fairness, camaraderie, and reliable navigation through uncharted space became its greatest asset. Clients and allies valued the enterprise’s integrity, while potential adversaries learned to respect its resolve.

Crisis and Unity
One of the defining moments in Symptom Enterprise’s history was the “Icarus Rift Incident.” A convoy carrying vital medical supplies was ambushed by pirates in the Icarus Rift, leaving many members stranded and injured. The operation was further complicated by the treacherous and largely unexplored nature of the Rift itself.

Drawing on its deep expertise in exploration, Symptom Enterprise mounted a daring rescue, leveraging their knowledge of uncharted routes and hidden jump points to outmaneuver the pirates and extract their stranded members. The incident not only solidified the bonds among its members but also cemented its reputation as an organization willing to risk everything for its principles.

Looking to the Future
Today, Symptom Enterprise stands as a beacon for those seeking a community that values morality, individuality, and mutual aid. Its operations span the galaxy, from bustling trade hubs to the uncharted depths of space. Members pride themselves on continuing the tradition of exploration, uncovering new opportunities while staying true to the organization’s core values.

Though it may never rival the size of the largest conglomerates, Symptom Enterprise thrives as a tightly-knit group of pioneers and traders. Its legacy is one of integrity, freedom, and discovery—charting not only the stars but also a path toward a better future for all who share its vision.

Manifesto

Symptom Enterprise found its origins in discussions at a small bar in a nearby spaceport. The original founders discussed a relaxed group of encouraging and helpful individuals who also don’t mind letting loose when appropriate. A higher moral standard is the foundation that its members should have in order to join its ranks. The founders thought this morality would steer the organization toward prosperity for both the member and the community around it. To avoid any sort of corrective actions should at the top of the priority list of our members, but as the universe knows, sometimes the laws don’t have our same moral standards and may be unforgiving to our members. Keeping the spirit of the individual as the second quality sought after by the organization, Symptom Enterprise encourages its members to do what it is that brings them joy. This leads to some desire a more intense or directed path. Our membership may not ever be the largest, but those who have come and gone should always feel welcomed by our organization and the work we do.
