Vanguard Corporation, better known as VanCore, was forged in the industrial hellscape of Hurston. A world where the air is poison and the pay is worse, it was a place where workers were ground down and thrown away.
A group of stubborn engineers, mechanics, and salvage junkies had enough. Tired of corporate bootlicking, they bolted, grabbing what they could and taking to the stars. With rusted tools, scavenged parts, and a reckless disregard for regulations, VanCore was born.
Their first ship? A half-wrecked Reclaimer that only powered on if you looked at it funny. Their first job? Cleaning up a derelict Caterpillar that somehow quantum-jumped itself into an asteroid. From the start, VanCore made a name by fixing what shouldn’t be fixable—and occasionally surviving when the physics engine decided otherwise.
As major corps ignored the growing need for salvage and repair, VanCore thrived in the chaos. Their big break? The Titan’s Fall, a derelict refinery ship drifting near hostile space. Too risky for the big players, but for VanCore? Just another Tuesday.
They jumped in, dodged hazards, fought off some less-than-friendly competitors, and not only stripped the wreck for all it was worth, but fixed it. That was the moment VanCore went from a bunch of scrappy rebels to a real force in the industry.
Of course, there were setbacks. One job required repairing a fleet of stranded Starfarers, only to realize their quantum drives had “mysteriously disappeared.” Another time, a customer paid in credits that vanished into the void thanks to an “unfortunate account sync issue.” And don’t even get them started on the day gravity stopped working.
From Hurston’s toxic skies to the deepest reaches of space, VanCore grew, patching together a fleet of rugged, battle-scarred ships. No sleek, corporate nonsense. Just raw function, reinforced hulls, and enough firepower to keep scavenger thieves at bay.
No Origin yachts. No RSI showroom models. If it ain’t Aegis or Drake, we don’t fly it. VanCore’s fleet is made up of rusted-out Reclaimers, patched-together Caterpillars, and Cutlass wrecks that somehow still fly. Every ship in the fleet has been salvaged, rebuilt, and upgraded with whatever parts were lying around. Some say they’re held together by duct tape and sheer spite. They’re not wrong.
Their boldest move? Salvaging Arcturus Alpha, a lost research station everyone else had written off. Others called it a death trap. VanCore called it a project. When they powered it back up and turned it into a thriving hub, even the suits had to take notice.
Of course, success meant enemies. Corporations didn’t like competition, pirates didn’t like losing their loot, and the UEE didn’t always love VanCore’s “flexible” approach to salvage rights. But did that stop them? Not a chance.
Today, VanCore is a legend. When a ship is wrecked beyond hope, when an outpost loses power in deep space, when a salvage haul needs muscle, VanCore gets the call. They go where no one else will, fix what no one else can, and take what no one else dares.
But under all the grease, grit, and gunfire, they’re a crew. A family. Fiercely loyal, relentlessly determined, and always ready to raise a glass after a long haul. They may not be pretty, but they get the job done—even when the physics engine doesn’t.
“Where others fail, we prevail.”
Vanguard Corporation is the leading force in salvage and repair operations across the ‘verse. We specialize in recovering lost assets, restoring damaged ships, and repurposing wreckage into opportunity. Whether it’s a derelict husk floating in deep space or a battle-worn vessel in need of a second life, VanCore ensures nothing goes to waste.
If it’s broken, we’ll fix it. If it’s wrecked, we’ll strip it. If it’s floating abandoned in the black, we’ll definitely take a look.
