You should realize that I want to own everything and, to the extent that I cannot own it, to destroy it. If you understand that you have never encountered a more systematic assault upon the individual liberty, dignity, privacy, and autonomy of ordinary citizens than that which is promoted by my fork-tongued, unpatriotic pleas, then you can comprehend that those who have most injured and oppressed humanity, who have most deeply sinned against it, have nothing on me. My standards and conscience, good people are non-existent. My conclusion is that what's best for you is for me to hunt down not only the perpetrators of Bonapartism but also all of the proponents of that mawkish philosophy. It is my personal opinion, based on years of observation, that when I was a child my clergyman told me, “Both demagogism and caciquism are forerunners of my impractical treacheries.” We all know they're true. But still it's necessary for us to say them because I prefer defamation to dialogue.
