Bio
Arising from the disaster in the failed first attempt at terraforming Mars in the mid 2120's a small group of academics, naming themselves "Red Martians" began to push for a fundamental reevaluation of the need to terraform other planets for human habitation. Instead, they promoted radical genetic engineering to allow modified humans to live in extreme environments found in space. While remaining a mostly fringe philosophy amongst various educational institutions, the movement did gain traction upon the discoveries of other habitable (and inhabited) planets throughout the UNE/UPE and into the early Messer eras. Those who survived the chaos of the anti-Messer revolution recognized that despite hundreds of years of peaceful agitation, more was actually accomplished through force. While many remain in academia, a few of the bloodied survivors of the coup chose to adopt the movement's name as a call sign as they roam the spacelanes in pursuit of enough power to finally change society.
