Born in Sol, Ed's family moved to Terra after his dad got a job with Origin as a lower range comms-tech. He grew up around the privileged youths of the Origin Archaeology. Made a few lasting friends, most who went on to better things - like War - and died in the process. "Tabby" Sorensen is the last remaining.
Argus Edward Wylde got his handle while serving a short enlistment driving a troop transport in the Terra Army, for his evasive driving style and not so liberal use of mounted weaponry. Nothing special here, no SQ 42 hero or Naval flight institute grad - just a regular Joe, who spent his life savings on civilian flight school.
Piloting a "C"Argo loader for a few years, Ed cashed out to find his fortune or end among the stars.
Mostly given up on Merc jobs, Ed' has settled into Industrial Operator lifestyle - and on certain nights, he still works as a covert courier.
