In smaller ships you can generate sufficient gravity with a spinning cat* hidden away behind the bulkheads.
*) To create a spinning cat, stick a buttered toast on its back and drop it from sufficient height. (Thus is makes sense to look for a vertical empty space in your ship to find it. But beware, that might damage the gravity generator.)
