Skywhale Battalion 1703 / 1703

What are we?
Skywhale Battalion 1703 is a Planetside 2 outfit based on Vanu, Emerald. We date back to early 2015 and started off as a small outfit with the main goal of helping each other improve as pilots. Since then, we’ve grown into a community spanning several games and playstyles. While we are still mainly based in Planetside, we do expand into other games occasionally. Nowadays we focus around a diverse, combined-arms playstyle oriented around hitting the enemy where it hurts most.
What is our main objective?
Our first and foremost priority is to have fun while playing. Sometimes that means demolishing an overwhelming force, other times we’ll just sit back and build a base; whatever seems fun at the moment. Beyond that, we strive for tactical superiority on the battlefield and strongly emphasize self improvement in all aspects of gameplay, including infantry, vehicles and air.
What are the requirements to join?
We do not have any set requirements to join. We ask that you be comfortable with the game and be familiar with most of its mechanics. It is also preferable that you have maxed out your repair tool and your medical applicator.
I’m a new player – what will be expected of me?
In joining us as a new player, you may not have very many certs of very much game experience. We have no expectation that you run in our squads at all times, but if you do squad up with the outfit, be ready to listen, move, and follow orders. If you do not feel like a superstar at the game, we have people who can help you improve your gameplay. We do not require, but strongly recommend an attitude of wanting to improve.
What times are we usually active?
You can usually find us playing around 9:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) on any given day. We have a very geographically diverse playerbase so you’ll see us online at most time of day, even in the middle of the night. We also post ops and events in our #announcements channel. These usually happen on weekends.
What do outfit ops entail?
During ops, we experiment with tactics and engage in high-risk high-reward gameplay. Ops usually entails one or two full squads and we tend to run with non-1703 members as well. We have a very specific set of vocabulary that refers to certain strategies or maneuvers that we have practiced. If you do not understand what we are saying, do not hesitate to ask.
What are the outfit rules?
We have a very simple set of rules which applies to both discord and in-game interactions. Drama between members is not allowed at any time and should be resolved immediately. If this is not possible, you may contact an admin for intervention. Malicious team killing of any sort is not tolerated in any game we play; the same goes for sabotage and mistreatment of teammates, even if they do not belong to the outfit. Excessively violent, vulgar or pornographic content is not allowed in the discord’s general or discussion chats.
Is 1703 a family friendly environment?
While we do have rules prohibiting certain conduct, 1703 is not a safe for work environment. It is advisable to have a thick skin and a sense of humor when joining the outfit. Our culture is very much oriented around profanity and outbursts which are conducive to more effective team play and fun. We don’t care about what you think or say, nor are we worried about political correctness and trash talking enemies. However, we do require teamwork and cooperation. If you do not get along or enjoy playing with other people, maybe 1703 isn’t the place for you.
