Good Timez & Bad Vibez

History

Battle group 5 was an ad hoc formation of civilian craft, Militia remnants, and even pirates hastily formed during the retreat from Vega after Vanduul had burned through the system. Having been cut off from the main jump point out of Vega the militant aspects of the group fought a desperate rear guard action to protect the civilian ships as they burned hard for pirate points, and hopefully safety. Over the course of 34 hours the men and women of Battle Group 5 were able to hold off the Vanduul Vultures through a series of desperately fought actions, some pilots only being able to rest while their ships were repaired, rearmed and refueled, buying time for the Civilian ships to make Jumps out-system. The strain of this is what most likely lead some pilots to believe they could sense Vanduul flights before sensors would pick them up stating a feeling of “Bad Vibes” which more often than not proved to be true, though this was more likely due to the sheer number of enemy attack waves than any to any real premonition, the nickname “Bad Vibes” stuck and replaced the call sign for Battle group 5.

Escaping the Vanduul wasn’t the end of their troubles. Battle Group 5 Had been written off as lost by the UEE Navy, making finding aid in neighboring systems difficult and often non-existent. Accounts had been forwarded to next of kin, or seized by the state. Assets were frozen, and refugee relief wasn’t available for persons marked dead as the Empire tried to sort out the aftermath of the Vanduul most recent conquest. Hungry, and running out of every kind of supply, it looked like they all might end up as space debris if their fortunes didn’t change.

To make matters worse, pirates had begun to harass the small battered flotilla, picking off any ships that ran out of fuel or couldn’t keep up. The remaining leadership could not decide what to do until a proposal was made to attack the Pirates. The meeting fell silent at the ridiculous proposal until an old former pirate grinned and chimed in “That idea gives me Bad Vibes.” and everyone grinned and nodded in agreement.

The sacking of the pirate outpost was a bloody affair for both sides, but the recovered cargo, food stores, fuel, ammo and medical supplies, not to mention a small fortune in gems and credits was just what they had needed. On top of that they claimed several high profile bounties and the fame that came with such deeds.

They don’t care what your background is or what you have done, that’s all put aside when you fly with them. All they require is that you follow orders, get the job done, and learn to trust in those Bad Vibes.
