Welcome to Budget-Cut Universal. We are an organisation dedicated to exploring an ever-expanding universe, to seeking out new lifeforms and their strange new cultures, and to daringly travel where no citizen has gone before.

History

Ever since the dawn of man, humans have been trying to discover their place in the universe. Countless explorers have left the reach of Earth’s gravity, and countless programs have been made about space and what might be in it. BCU, ever since its creation, has been dedicated to taking that small step and exploring an ever-growing universe.

Budget-Cut Universal was founded in 2947 by a collection of friends wanting to explore further than the reaches of anyone before. They are constantly expanding their vision, and eventually will be able to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Their aim is to purchase a Starfarer, and explore the stars.

They welcome any like-minded individuals.

A Quote From A Founding Member

We are Budget-Cut Universal. We will push the boundaries of space. We will chart uncharted territory. We will discover things about the universe our ancestors only dreamed of. And most of all, we will do this together. We will never leave a comrade behind. The thing is, we are not a strict hierarchical organisation, like a PMC or a Syndicate. We are comrades, together. We are built on respect, comradery and friendship. That is who we are, and if that appeals to you? Join the expedition, friend.
~ Budget-Cut Thor

The History

September 2946: A scientific expedition to the edges of known space was launched. On board, as well as a team of scientists, were three figures of importance: Jake Danner, Nexus and Loki. Jake Danner, a Royal Academy of Nautical Command alumnus, had joined with a work colleague to gain experience on board an active expedition. Nexus had enlisted to provide security cover for the vulnerable scientific endeavour. Loki had enlisted as the ship’s pilot.

October 2946: The scientific expedition had been running for a month now. It had been skirting the edges of UEE space, making remarkable discoveries about alien life forms. However, on the 19th, disaster struck. A Vanduul swarm engaged the expedition, injuring the Captain and many bridge crew. At this point, Danner, Nexus and Loki flew into action. Danner took the Captain’s chair, and began coordinating a tactical retreat. He worked closely with Loki, who manoeuvred the ship through the squadron and to safety. Nexus provided invaluable skill to the ship-wide defence as he had worked for several years in the Navy.

November 2946: The ship had finally limped back to port. The combined efforts of Danner, Loki and Nexus had successfully saved the expedition from disaster, and they went their separate ways. That is, until Danner contacted them a week later, with a proposition: to found an organisation whose very purpose was scientific exploration on the edges of known space.

December 2946: On the 27th of December, 2946, Budget-Cut Universal was officially FOUNDED by the three new friends.

August 2946: While working on a project, Danner encountered someone who was interested in BCU. Soon after, Budget-Cut Universal recruited its first new member.

September 2947: Budget-Cut Universal went through a major re-brand, incorporating a new logo as the basis for their branding scheme. It was several months after in November that the first advert was made using the new logo. In addition, BCU successfully recruited its second member, paving the way for more to come.

October 2947: After a series of interviews with several candidates, BCU increased from a humble 4 into a group of 8 comrades. The race to explore the universe officially started and training began.

August 2949: After a long hiatus, where our ships went through a refit, and the glitches in our systems were ironed out, BCU is back in the verse, pushing the boundaries of known space.

Manifesto

The Aims

  • To uphold the laws of the UEE
  • Never to interfere with the development of another species
  • To explore the universe
  • To seek out new species and planets to study
  • To employ the scientific method, without bias
  • To enjoy comradeship as we explore

The Fleet

Although BCU strives towards the Starfarer, that is not the end. We will employ a full and rich fleet of scientific, commerse and military ships to achieve our goal: space travel is not without risk or funding. Any ships that you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

The Personnel

BCU employs a structured form for peak efficiency. Affiliates of the organisation will be ranked as ‘Crewmen’ and will be welcomed aboard any ship in our fleet. Enlisted Personnel, after they have competed a mandatory training period, will be ranked from Ensign to Captain, with various job opportunities available for high-ranking members. However, do not be turned away by this: at the end of it, we are comrades who like and respect one another.

The Roles

There are several different roles/positions available within BCU, which include organisation roles and role-play posts. Organisation roles include: Enlisted Personnel Officers, in charge of membership; Recruitment Officers, in charge of recruitment; and Public Relations Officers, in charge of marketing.
Role-play posts include all available ship roles and positions. Other role-play posts are open – see what you can offer our organisation.

Communication

Communication in BCU will be done via Discord. Discord is a free to use gaming-oriented chat service, which states it will always be free. The link to our discord is as follows: https://discord.gg/nDveWxr
Please use the link only AFTER you have applied for our organisation.
