A small private security group that can be used for area defense of facilities and homesteads or a small strike force for offensive operations. Specializing in small ship strikes and fleet augmentation to add fighter screens to larger fleets while maintaining support and repair capabilities.

History

Founded in 2945 by Alex Church – a former UEE Navy Pilot from a battle hardened Gladiator squadron – the organization Combat Protective Services came into being riding on the back of the Militia Mobilization Initiative: a new law that allowed for civilians to purchase formerly classified/restricted ships and weapons. Alex saw this as a massive double edge sword, with the high chance of these weapons falling into pirate hands. Thus, he set out to create a private security organization that specialized in using smaller mobile ships to repel attacks and even strike back when needed. Doing this made it possible for a small mobile and cost effective fighting force to be deployed against such groups. Limited at first, CPS struggled with range as the larger carrier ships were not available due to the more humble funding the ex military veteran could muster. This all changed at the introduction of the Anvil Liberator. With the assistance of investors, Alex was able to purchase and immediately begun the development of new tactics still in use by CPS today. While other long range security fleets rely on larger ships with high expense, the Liberator gave CPS the ability to quickly and efficiently transport their fighters to far away battlefields or embed in fleets to provide an extra layer of fighter support, leading to the more cost effective light carrier doctrine to be adopted. Upon the success of the new doctrine the cost of CPS’s security services for industrial companies lowered and increased business, allowing for the organization to eventually begin to afford ships such as the Crucible and Vulcan to aid in supporting the fighter fleet assigned to the Liberator. This allowed for longer deployment times and extra services that could be offered. CPS – though still small – now stands at the ready to assist the smaller organizations and homesteaders that could not originally afford to have security on call. CPS is here to protect the little guys and keep them safe even through the most violent of claim deputes or targeted attacks from the pirates CPS was created to stand against.
