History

Formation of the Diamond Dogs

The Diamond Dogs were formed in 1984 by it’s first “Big Boss” known only by the name of John. They were a mercenary unit who were willing to carry out many unsavory jobs for clients. Owing to their name they carried diamonds converted from the cremated ashes of their brothers who perished in battle. From the year 1984 to 2001 they carried out operations in the Middle East, Africa, and south east Asia.

In 2001, in the wake of major terrorist attacks on the American States, the then United Nations passed the Privatized Defense Act. The PDA allowed selected privatized military organizations to act more openly in countries throughout the world. The Diamond Dogs were one of the organizations chosen.

From 2001 to 2380 the conflicts between the Western-Democratic nations and the Eastern-Socialist nations provided a great opportunity to the Diamond Dogs. High value targets were targets of assassinations in these ideological wars, and The Dogs began to provide personal escorts to political leaders in both sides. There was much criticism of the Dogs and refuge was sought in the nation of Iceland where a political party named “the Assailants” was formed. The Assailants provided The Dogs with an advantage over its competitors as all of its members were now granted diplomatic immunity, thus making The Dogs able to operate without fear of government reprisal.

Early Space Age

In 2140 Roberts Space Industries (RSI) introduced the first commercially available starship. The Zeus was a short-range designed for exploration. The Diamond Dogs, like many other organizations, begin arming these ships in an attempt to control the new space race. In 2157, with the terraforming of Mars complete, the Diamond Dogs set up a base of operations on the planet.

All was going well with the Diamond Dogs. Several factions on Earth were still in conflict, as well as crime syndicates appearing on the Martain surface. The Diamond Dogs, true to form, played both sides of the conflicts.

In 2262 after a series of ships inexplicably disappear in the same area of space the Earth governments declares the Neso Triangle a no-fly zone. Among some of those missing are about a dozen members of the Diamond Dogs. After 10 years of research humans would discover this anomaly to be a jump point.

Because of the search for jumpoints many of the Earth’s social and political differences are set aside, and the United Nations of Earth (UNE) is born. Many privatized military organizations are forced to disband, and the Diamond Dogs have to make significant cuts. They go from approximately 5,000 members to little over 1,000

First Contact

In the year 2438 the Banu were the first non-human species discovered and trade was established between the two races. The Diamond Dogs secured many security contracts escorting cargo through space. It was around this time many Humans began to leave earth, and begin colonizing other planets. The Diamond Dogs begin to slowly expand their operations to those planets. By 2498 over 85% of Diamond Dog operations are held off planet.

The settlement on Terra was founded in 2566, and it was found that it’s solar system contained vast amounts of jump points. Within a few decades Terra became the unofficial center of the UNE. In 2524 The Diamond Dogs officially switch their home base of operations there just one year after the Human government reforms into the United Planets of Earth. (UPE)

The discovery of the Xi’An Empire was not as warm as it was with the Banu. When humans bumped into their empire in 2530 an unofficial cold war broke out between them and the UPE. The Diamond Dogs were there to capitalize on the confusion. This ushered in a “Golden Era” for the dogs as many corporations would pay handsomely for Xi’An technology and goods.

Birth of an Empire

The United Empire of Earth (UEE) was formed in 2546 by High General Ivan Messar. Messar was formally a Colonel in the UPE who was known to be a ruthless strategist. He would usher in an age of expansion and colonization. Not all of the UEE citizens approved of the change. In 2638 Senator Assan Keren would speak out against the Imperator. The Senator would soon disappear. There were rumors that the Imperator hired the Diamond Dogs to carry out the assassination, but no proof could be found.

All was well with the Dogs for a brief period of time until 2643 when members of the Diamond Dogs began to die at an alarming rate. Equipment failure was the most common causes. A large number of deaths happened simultaneously throughout the galaxy, and the Dog’s were forced to go into hiding. Seemingly overnight the Dog’s went from several thousand members to 50.

The Dog’s retreated to many of their secret outposts in asteroids or low security planets. It would be many decades before they resurfaced.

Vandull Strike

The Diamond Dogs were forced to make a living however they could. Security escorts, bounty hunting, smuggling, and in some cases piracy. It wasn’t until the Vandull appeared in 2681 that they were able to catch a break. With UEE forces spread throughout the galaxy it began to hire private military organizations to help counter the threat. Reformed under the name Foxhound the Dogs accepted many contracts from the UEE to fight of the Vandull.

With the UEE peaking in power the Diamond Dogs seemed to be on the rebound.

The New Imperator

In the wake of the The Massacre of Garron II the citizens of the UEE had grown tired of their current form of government, and desired a change. Revolts began to spring up over the galaxy, and the Imperatoris overthrown… replaced by a new Imperator Erin Toi in 2792. Many Diamond Dog members are seen leading some of the revolutionaries. Whether they are there out of their own desire or if they are being motivated by credits is unknown.

Rebirth

No longer being hunted the Dogs set up a base of operations in the classified system on the edges of UEE territory.

Manifesto

The Diamond Dogs are a PMC willing to carry out even the most unsavory jobs for a modest fee. We will primarily provide fighter and gunship protection for transports, bounty hunting, and other military operations.

Being a private PMC we will primarily focus on a combat role. However, this will not be our only focus. We will also have divisions dedicated to Economy, Exploration, Racing, and many other activities a citizen could undertake.

Organization Overview

Identification of the Diamond Dogs

1. Organization Background and History: The Diamond Dogs, hereby referred to as Dogs, were a mercenary group founded in the 1980’s. See History section for more details.

2. Organization Purpose: The Dogs are a Private Military Contractor that will provide security for its clients. This would include, but is not limited to: cargo security, bounty hunting, sector patrols, and fleet support. In the dangerous universe that we call home we face threats such as the Vandull and Human Pirates. The Dogs exist to counter such threats, and will provide clients with the protection they need.

3. Organization Scope and Limitations: The Dogs will operate in all sectors of space providing security to it’s clients. Once a job has been accepted by the Dogs we will not default on the contract.

4. Organization Goals and Objectives: Although The Dogs are primarily a PMC our organization will be opening divisions for exploration, trade, racing, and other activities in the universe.

Project Approach

1. Organization Deliverables: The Dogs will deliver a sense of community and pride to it’s members. We will focus on group efforts in all of our undertakings. Some of our goals include, but are not limited to:

A. Establishing and maintaining a base of operations in a voted upon sector. B. Owning multiple space stations that focus on fuel refinement, weapons production, and ship repair. C. Establishing a well organized fleet with a focus on small fighter craft.

2. Responsibilities and Roles in the Organization: The Dogs will employ a military structure in it’s organization. This provides us with a more efficient means of conduction operations. There is a Head of Organization (Big Boss) followed by his second in command (Boss). There will be formed an Admiralty Board that can ratify or veto the Big Boss and Boss. Each division will be led by the members of this board. Each department of The Dogs will be further sub-divided as their needs require.

3. Project Resources: The greatest resource of The Dogs will be the members of the organization. Second to them is their ships. The organization will also require members to give financially (In game money only) to the maintenance of organization holdings. Because of the mechanics of this have not been worked out, more information will follow.

4. Risk Management Overview: A Dogs member will see a healthy amount of combat in the universe and will encounter such risks as: Loss of cargo, weapons, ship, and even life. To minimize these risks a Diamond Dog member, acting in an official Diamond Dog operation, will never act alone.

5. Project Life Cycle Overview: The Dogs will go through various phases during its existence. These phases may evolve and change before or even during their implementation. Current phases are as follows, and are subject to change.

A. Phase One: Recruit new members. Organize members into appropriate divisions and squadrons. Conduct training in Arena Commander module to hone skills and promote team building. Establish a base of operations in an agreed upon sector of space. B. The Dogs will then solidify their base of operations dominating all military, mercantile, and exploration operations in that sector. C. Phase Three: Acquire mining vessels and refinery machinery of the appropriate type to generate revenue for the organization. D. Phase Four: Acquire large vessels to expand Organization influence such as the Idris class Frigates and Bengal class carriers.

7. Basic Project Control and Communication Plan: The Dogs will open an external site to provide a more private area for its members. The Dogs leadership will also be transparent with monetary gains and will have a monthly vote by it’s members to control the flow of money.
