History

A Corporation for a new Galaxy

Founded in the Terra system in the latter 2800s, Eos Corporation has since grown and evolved from a small factory in lower levels of New Austin, to the Interstellar Trade Concern it has now become. Striving to build a better future for the verse, CEO Victor Gravit seeks to build a strong structure on the already solid foundation set by his father. Seeing many hardships in its short life, Eos has grown and matured from the humble beginnings it from what it was once founded. Providing services such as transportation, exploration, franchised freelancing and even security; Eos ambitions have astronomic weight and has seemingly boundless potential for the Future. With a strong board of directors and a secure business platform Eos will continue to expand its horizons for years to come.
- Dianna Rodriquez, Empire Report 2944

Building the Foundation

Jason Bail and Ammos Gravit , childhood friends with a passion in robotics, decided to make a business utilizing their shared skills. These two enterprising young men founded their first company in 2872 named Colonia Enterprises . This company offered a rudimentary production and consisted of two multitasking robotic arms and some hocked together code. Jason went on to pursue a degree in robotic science at the University of Cologne , only to drop out of school to work at Origin .

Ammos however studied advanced programming and electronic engineering at the University of New Austin on Terra . Where In March 2875, a headhunter was looking for programmers for some of MISC ’s newer automated systems, Bail noticed this, and soon got a call from Gravit claiming to have a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with Musashi Industrial Starflight Concern . The only problem was that MISC required a demonstration, and the two didn’t actually have the MISC hardware required to run their programs on. Bail was able to use his resources at Origin to build a simulator of the hardware and software MISC uses in its star-ships. The two pitched the idea and MISC agreed to distribute it as Sirius Automatic. Using this deal; Gravit and Bail officially established Eos Corporation on April 4, 2875, with Gravit as the CEO. Bail came up with the original name of “Eos” the goddess of the dawn, symbolizing the good will he wanted the company to be known for.

Eos entered the interstellar trade market in 2888 with the purchase of a light freighter that had been previously junked. Continuing to establish what was to become a tradition of humble ventures innovation. Eos soon secured its first major business deal due to a failed negotiation another company had with Origin , They then awarded a contract to Eos in November 2888 to move small ship parts from various manufacturing plants to Earth for assembly. To make ready for the upcoming launch of Origin ‘s new ship line. For this deal, Eos purchased a two more light freighters, effectively tripling their trade capacity and thus securing the successful release of the Origin X3 in 2889. Eos retained their contract for quite some time after that ensuring the boom of Origin ship building in the late 2800s.

Passing of an Innovator

Jason Bail would soon resign from Eos in March 2894 after developing a terminal illness for which there was no recovery. During the years following, Eos experimented with a number of failed consumer targeted products including ship mounted cameras, portable multimedia devices, video consoles, and holotable appliances. Enormous resources were also invested in the problem-plagued Kaiser Division based on unrealistic market forecasts. Ultimately, none of these endeavors proved fruitful, as Eos ‘ market share and stock prices started to slide.

Innovation & Controversy a Force for Change

Eos saw much of its production line as being far too expensive to produce, while taking hits from piracy across the region. In 2895, Eos8 released the Hiveworks Visual Information System or HVIS , designed to display interesting facts about people the user sees by using spectrum searches and facial recognition software. The product was seen as an invasion of privacy and subsequently flopped. Later the idea would however gain traction and was purchased by Microtech and renamed as Alternative Reality and by displaying merely the names of individuals and description of products. Eos gained a fair bit of ground after the purchase of the software. As well the Advocacy took the software and developed its own version with the exacting specifications of the HVIS even keeping its name. To this day it is unknown what information the HVIS actually displays, only that it provides Advocacy with pin point identification and past criminal history. Eos is seen in the public as innovative yet controversy surrounds the HVIS to this day yet Eos retains no rights to the software with the exception of original patent.

To this day competitors continue to gain market share with products focusing on delivering cheap commodities while Eos was delivering richly engineered, but expensive, products and services. Eos relied on high profit margins and never developed a clear response to these markets. Though now with Eos in the limelight after the HVIS controversy and successful sale of the software to both the UEE and Microtech . Eos now has the profit to begin to reinvent its business model. Due to the success of Eos electronic engineering division by the late 2890s, Eos had entered the software market. Now developing alternative platforms to the common holotable and HUD systems, such as the E/X , developed with Xi’an layouts and licensing. Eos had also begun to experiment in providing an E/X only spectrum hub called E-System , developed in collaboration with a Xi’an company who’s name does not translate into common and designed as an E/X -friendly alternative to other spectrum services.

E-System was an unmitigated failure. After repeated and numerous failed attempts to improve E/X , first with the Thorne project , then later with Kaiser and Mars . On July 9, 2889, The E-System and E/X were officially shut down and discontinued. To this day mentioning the name “E-System” or “E/X” is highly Taboo in Eos offices.

Reviving the Dawn

In 2889 Ammos Gravit (with the consultation of the retired Jason Bail ) began a series of changes at Eos , including extensive layoffs. During a trip to Cassel to escape the tragedy and protests the layoffs caused, Ammos met the young translator he would end up marrying. A bond which would be a testament to Ammos Gravit ’s commitment and dedication he passed to his son Victor born in the summer of 2891. In the later years Gravit began restructuring the company’s product line and set up a quality assurance department to judge whether projects such as E/X were worth pursuing or tossing in the disposal bin. During the restructuring Gravit announced the new business model and used the remaining funds from the coffers to re-brand and invigorate the waning company.

In early 2892, Eos introduced a new lineup of products, focusing heavily on bringing planetary markets together, as well as renting out private security services out of their former Kaiser project . This new direction tried to use modern technology to its fullest, and target an uncommon market, it sold almost 800,000 units in its first five months.

Through this period, Eos purchased several companies to create a portfolio of professional and consumer-oriented secure trade. In late 2892, Eos announced the purchase of Macro’s “Stargazer” market analysis software , signaling its renewed expansion into the interstellar market. The following year, Eos established two new trade routes: Cassel and Vega with bolstering registered clients from 405,436 in early 2890 to 1,232,870 in 2893. In 2894, Eos purchased Compactoid software compression system for their advanced information runner ships, as well as Enigma encryption for their high priority runs, which led to the development of their consumer-level PEN encryption . The release to two new ships the same year completed the software delivery suite.

Dawn of a New Regime

In 2912 Ammos took a leave of absence to care for his newborn son. During this LOA Jason Bail would return to the company for a short time concluding in his death on May 12 2912. Gravit mourning the passing of his friend and partner was forced to cut his leave short and return to his career. In 2937 Ammos invested a large amount of money in the faltering Bernardelli Mining and Manufacturing Company , after meeting with their new board and Valentine Marx III . BMMC continues as a subsidiary of the Eos Corporation . The company continued as normal despite conflicts. Until 2942 when Ammos Gravit resigned as CEO, appointing his son Victor to his former position. Shortly after his rise to CEO in 2943, Victor purchased Executive Frontier Protection Services in a deal with Orin Feth .

This bold purchase, while aggressive by the previous standards of Eos and was defended by CEO Victor Gravit rigorously. After extensive re-branding, EFPS relaunched as Eos Frontier Protective Services in 2944. Despite this change, EFPS was unable to sustain the growth requirements for its contract with Eos . In Q4 2944 EFPS was folded into Eos entirely, resulting in the founding of the new Security Division .

Manifesto

From: The Office of the CEO

Our industry does not respect tradition. Only innovation.

This is the golden rule to remember in this business. Our business. No one remembers the company that failed to open a new avenue because “the old ways are best”. Ambition creates Empires, and ambition without innovation is only dreaming. It is our aim to move forward, and in doing so bring humanity forward with us.

Our Core

We were founded on the belief that further technology would expand the lives of markets and companies alike. With this ever expanding frontier, it is easy to forget that it is not only our privilege, but our responsibility to use it to the fullest. It is an unforgivable waste to have an advancement and squander it, until someone else finds a way to use it to the fullest potential. Innovation breeds innovation, when confronted with a new discovery, the first two questions that should be on every mind are “How does this work?” and “How else can I use it?”.

At our core, Eos Corp is the innovation and productivity company the new frontiers we are meeting, and will meet in the future. Be it reverse engineering Vanduul plasma technology, or further co-operation with the Banu and Xi’an. Only through ability, determination, and innovation can we be ready for what the future will hold.

Our Society

Our ambitions are bold and so must be our desire to change and evolve our society

We all spend far too much time at our workstations, be they in the offices on Terra, the cockpit of a Freelancer, or anywhere in between, for it not to derive a certain personal meaning and sense of satisfaction for us. Even the smallest actions can bring a ripple of change to the entire UEE. Let alone the actions our ambition calls for. Nothing is off the holotable in how we think about shifting our society to deliver on our core strategies. Organisations will rise and fall. Job responsibilities will evolve. New partnerships will be formed. New skills will be built. Tired old traditions will be questioned. Our priorities will be adjusted. Processes will be simplified. And if you want to truly thrive in the Eos Corporation and make an impact felt across the Empire, you must add numerous more changes to this list.

Yes, you.

You are the diving force in this company. You, the cargo loader who mans the rear gun on the Freelancer. You, the market researcher who pours through reports finding the best deals. You, the security officer who stands at the door to the loading bay. All of you are what make Eos what she is today, and any of you could be the next exec, who’s brilliant idea bought us a prime position in a market that didn’t even exist before you conceived it.

I am committed to making Eos the best place for smart, curious, ambitious people to do their best work.

First, we will obsess.

Obsession is the job of every employee in this company. From the young Tevarin working in the mail room to the building manager three days from retirement, everyone should be focused on what we could be. What we should be. Each of you must be a conqueror in your own right, bring the drive of Alexander the Great, Charlemagne, or Corath’Thal to your job every day.

Second, we’ll enjoy it.

Our founders built this company around the idea that work should be challenging, and the challenge should be fun. Great things can come out of the right atmosphere, and being stuffed in a dreary job with people who don’t care anymore is as far from that atmosphere as you can imagine. If you don’t like your job, find the one you will like and apply! We have a major emphasis on team achievements and pride in individual accomplishments that contribute to our overall success. We’re in this together, if you thrive, we thrive

Third, the need for us crosses all borders.

Be it Sol, Terra, or even the depth of Xi’an and Banu space. There is one thing that unites all peoples across the universe. Need. And where this is need, there is opportunity to fill it. This one truth has been constant throughout history and will remain long into the future. Where there is a need, we will fill it.

Finally, Great is never good enough.

Being great at something is a good a starting point, but anyone who ends there isn’t trying hard enough. Our goals we are sometimes impossible to reach, but that’s only because we know that by stretching to meet them we can get further than we expected. Throughout history the impossible has regularly been achieved because people were too stubborn to realise that it was impossible. Through innovation, we will take things that work well and improve upon them in unexpected ways.

The are no barriers, only hurdles to jump over.
