It all begins on the 9th of august 2681, during the first ever contact between humans and vanduul.

The day started well on Dell township, the orion system was our settler’s paradise. This city, and the whole system, was thriving for the past decades.
It started by an echo in the sky, the sound of an explosion as they broke into the atmosphere, then it was this never-heard-before thruming getting closer. And after that, nothing. A second of silence, not even a whisper, before a series of large explosions broke the stillness.
An hour after the first explosions the bombardment stopped, and the worst part started. Dozens of unknown ships, organic in nature and terribly scary, touched the ground. At first, the enemy couldn’t be seen because they were too fast, too relentless, too carefull, but one photograph was taken of a group of them, they were humanoid in nature, but really far from our definition of it, they were tall, very muscular, they didn’t need clothes or protective gears, they were strong and showed it.

The massacre was surprisingly and terrifyingly quick. 638 people died that day, in the worst possible ways imaginable.
She was there when the first bomb dropped, she saw the giant birds droning above the city and she ran. Elise was a nurse, and when she saw them she knew… she knew what terrible times her beloved city will go through, but she didn’t know it would be the end of it.

She was running to the hospital when the void bombed it, a giant explosion taking out the entire building at once. She was close and got thrown away by the impact. 3 days later ,she woke up, completely lost, in a medical facility in the vega system.

Some weeks later, the atrocities continued but elsewhere, the now known Vanduul were ravaging every human system they could find, pillaging and destroying everything on their path. She was devasted, hopeless.

After a while, she decided to help, but not by healing this time. she joined the UEE army and was quickly sent to the 44th squadron because of her exceptional records at the forge – she wasn’t particularly strong and not much of a tactician but her will compensated for all her flaws.
After her admission in the squadron, they started to win battles against the Vanduul incursions, they were able to defend outposts and cities all around the systems they would be assigned to. She was quickly promoted as a leader in the squadron, Elise Pax was becoming a symbol of protection amongst settlers around the universe.
One day, the news came : Vanduuls were discovered lurking around the Vega system, an horrible thought started creeping in her head : what if it happened again ? what if she has to relive the destruction of her peaceful home ? No. She would stop it !
A scout sighted a group of heavily armed Vanduul vessels hiding around Artemis’s moon in the Vega system, that’s when everything changed. During a meeting with the rear admiral there, she asked permission for her squadron to be deployed around artemis and to engage the Vanduul before they have the chance to cause any harm, the operation was directly denied, command wouldn’t want to risk engaging them with no reason. Elise was frustrated by the decision, she knew that they will attack, and when they do, nothing would be left.
When she got back to the squadron, she delivered what is now known as the “pax en victoria plead” which galvanized her starmen and gave them the will to follow her into battle, even if it meant being rejected by the UEE.
When the high command recieved a report concerning the disappearance of the entire 44th squadron, they were already arriving around Artemi getting ready to search and destroy any Vanduul activity.
When they arrived at the north pole of Artemis’s moon, they finally saw them, a massive group of different alien ships armed to the teeth parked there, in a deep crater. Elise’s ship was the first to advance to the edge of the giant hole, that’s when they all woke up, rising out of the crater and facing the fleet in front of them. No words were spoken, Elise directly rushed the enemy rank, followed by the courageous starmen on her tail.
The first attack was decisive, only 2 Vanduul ships remained while the humans only suffered light casualties but … something wasn’t right, she could feel it. That’s when they saw it, the “hunter“a giant Vanduul destroyer just out of quantum above them. The first salvo killed half of the squadron, 154 people died in instant. The order was quickly given to focus on the hunter rear to disable and destroy their engines, but accessing it was difficult. After a few minutes of combat and incredible show of courage, the back shields of the giant was fading, victory was at reach ! But, the squadron lost so much that they didn’t have the fire power necessary to finish the fight.
The last image of Elise Pax was from her cockpit recorder, we can see her closing her eyes-with a great smiles-murmuring “finally, peace embrace me”
The fight was over, the hunter suffered from a series of explosion coming from it’s engine going straight to the bow, dislocating a large number of giant metal piece, slowly falling to te moon’s surface. She wanted to preserve peace at any cost, and that day, the cost was her life and her starmen’s. She saved thousands of people that day, thousands of civilians that the vanduul wanted to erradicate in the Vega system.
