The History of the Fire Rats

The Fire Rats were born from the ashes of betrayal, the ruins of a broken empire, and the blistering heat of a sun that gave no mercy. Our story begins in the unclaimed expanse of the Pyro system, a place where the stars rage with uncontrollable flares and where no authority dares to tread. We are a people forged in fire, bound by the sun’s fury and the wreckage left in the wake of the Pyrotechnic Amalgamated’s greed. We are the chosen children of Pyro’s wrath—outcasts, rebels, and zealots, united by a shared purpose: to rise from destruction and claim our destiny.

The Birth of the Fire Rats

In 2563, Pyrotechnic Amalgamated, once a powerful corporation that sought to harness the volatile energy of Pyro’s K-type flare star, abandoned the system. After years of exploiting the planets for resources, the company found itself crippled by the star’s devastating flares and a depletion of valuable materials. With Pyrotechnic’s exit, the workers—stranded and betrayed—found themselves cast aside on the barren surface of Bloom (Pyro III), a planet once inhabited by only the harshest survivors. But these workers were not broken. They saw the star not as a foe but as a god, and in its searing wrath, they found an opportunity.

In the aftermath of a particularly violent solar flare, the star’s outburst left behind a bounty of wreckage—ships torn apart, supplies scattered across the barren land. From this disaster, the survivors emerged with a new purpose. They recognized the power of the star and its fire. It was a gift. It was their salvation.

The Fire Rats were born in this moment. The survivors, scarred by the fire but empowered by it, came together under the banner of the Pyro sun. They marked their bodies with the scars of the flare as a symbol of their strength and devotion. The star had given them everything: destruction, mercy, and a future. And so, they pledged themselves to its flame, carving their path through the wreckage of the old world.

Rise from the Ashes

With the ashes of Pyrotechnic’s greed as their foundation, the Fire Rats began to rise. They forged an identity from the fire that had consumed everything around them. The star above them, a constant beacon of destruction, became their god, and their cause was clear: they would not be ruled, nor abandoned again. They would claim their birthright—freedom, power, and the wreckage of the past.

They became more than just survivors. They became a force to be reckoned with. Their raids on shipping routes, their shipjackings, and their brutal attacks on rival factions marked the rise of a new power in the Pyro system. No longer were they mere outcasts—they were the embodiment of Pyro’s wrath, a force of nature that could not be ignored.

The Formation of the Order

As the Fire Rats grew in number and strength, their structure evolved. From the beginning, they understood that survival alone was not enough. They needed a vision, a leader, a guide to take them beyond the wreckage and into a future of their own making. In time, the Prophet emerged—a visionary leader who spoke with the voice of the star itself. The Prophet united the Fire Rats, leading them with an unyielding hand, and their ranks swelled.

The Fire Rats adopted an organized structure that would see them rise even higher. The Elder, a trusted lieutenant of the Prophet, took command of the ranks, ensuring that discipline and loyalty to the flame were maintained. The Missionary was tasked with spreading the word and recruiting new followers, while the Evangelist shaped their public image, ensuring that the Fire Rats’ mythos spread like wildfire across the system.

Through these leaders, the Fire Rats were no longer just a band of outlaws—they were a cult, a revolution, a living legacy of the sun’s wrath. Each rank within their structure, from the lowly Initiates to the high-ranking Chamberlains and Exarchs, represented a devotion to the flame and the fire that had made them what they were. The Fire Rats understood that their rise would not be without opposition, but with the sun’s wrath at their backs, nothing could stand in their way.

A Legacy of Fire and Fury

Over the years, the Fire Rats’ influence grew. They claimed Ruin Station as their own, transforming it from a decaying relic into a stronghold that echoed with the fire of their ambition. No longer were they isolated on Bloom or the fringes of Pyro—now, they controlled a critical piece of the system’s infrastructure. But they were not content to stop there. They knew the fire that burned within them could not be contained by a single station.

As the Fire Rats’ power spread, so did their influence over the Pyro system. They clashed with other factions—XenoThreat, Headhunters, and independent pirates—each seeking to carve out their place in the chaos. But the Fire Rats were different. Their cause was not for scraps, not for petty gains. They sought nothing less than total control, guided by the wrath of the sun and the ashes of the old world. The Fire Rats were no mere criminals. They were the future.

The Fire Still Burns

Today, the Fire Rats stand as a force that cannot be ignored. Their numbers have swelled, and their reach extends throughout Pyro. Their presence is felt in every flare, every explosion, every ship that is left in their wake. They have come to symbolize the inevitable: the fall of the old world and the rise of the new.

The Fire Rats remain true to their roots, guided by the power of the sun, the rage of the star, and the unyielding will to claim what is theirs. They are not bound by the laws of any government, nor do they seek the approval of those who abandoned them. They are free. They are the flame. And they will not be extinguished.

The Fire Rats are a force born from fire, bound by the ashes of the past, and driven by the fury of the sun itself. Their revolution is just beginning—and the Pyro system will never be the same.

Manifesto

We are the scarred children of Pyro’s fire, born of fury and flame. From the wreckage of Pyrotechnic’s greed, we rise, unbroken and unbowed, rejecting the lies of those who forsook us. Our flesh bears the mark of the sun’s wrath—and through it, we rise stronger than ever.

The star above is our god, its fury our command. We are its chosen, its wrath incarnate, the flame that devours and remakes the universe in our image. The wreckage of the old world is not mere debris—it is our birthright, our foundation, and the path to the power we claim.

We bow to no throne, for we are beyond kings. We answer to no law, for we are the law. Ruin Station is only a symbol—our reach is limitless, and the galaxy will burn with the same fire that drives us. The weak can fight for scraps; we will take it all.

Shipjackers, thieves, zealots, revolutionaries—we are all these things and more. We are the Fire Rats, the living testament to Pyro’s fury, the future born from fire. Let the stars burn, let the flares rage—nothing can stop us. This system is ours, and the universe will bow before the flame.

IV. Guiding Principles

Embrace the Fire: The Fire Rats are born of the sun’s wrath. The fire is our strength, our weapon, and our guide. We must embrace it fully, letting it burn away the old world and forge a new one from the ashes.

Self-Reliance: We answer to no one but the flame. We are free, independent, and unbowed by any laws or rulers. The world owes us nothing—our destiny is ours to seize.

Destruction as Creation: We understand that to create, we must first destroy. The wreckage of the old world is our foundation, and from that destruction, we will rise to reshape the universe in our image.

Loyalty to the Flame: Our loyalty lies with the Prophet and the flame. All who follow the Fire Rats must be steadfast in their devotion to our cause and to the mission of bringing Pyro’s wrath to the universe.

Power through Unity: While we are independent, we are stronger together. The power of the Fire Rats lies not only in our individual strength but in our unity as a force of unstoppable wrath.

V. Conclusion

The Fire Rats will rise to burn the old world to the ground. From the ashes of Pyrotechnic’s failed empire, we will forge a new, unshakable order. We are the flame, the reckoning, and the future. Our fire will never go out, and our revolution will consume everything in its path. Let the stars burn and the flares rage—nothing will stop us.
