Wherever, Whenever, Whoever.

If things look bleak, remember you’re in Fool’s Company

History

Bravo Company of the UEE’s Army Ranger regiment has had a storied history as being the ones you send when you’re not sure anyone will make it out. As a result they earned the Nom de Guerre “Fool’s Company”. It has seen combat in all corners of the verse, and performed with valor and efficiency no matter how dire the straits.

During its 2938 Tour of duty, Bravo sustained multiple incidents of, devastatingly bad pre-op intelligence, extractions that never arrived, woefully under supplied campaigns, and several botched close air support strikes. The “Seven Months of Murder” as it was labeled by those that lived through it, led to the almost complete destruction of the famed Fool’s Company. As their tour wound down, and having had enough of the Officer negligence and Army/Navy politics that led to the deaths of their comrades, the surviving members of Bravo company handed in their resignations and took their moniker to the private sector.

Originally advertising with the tag line, “No job too small or too dirty” the early workload was diverse and alternated between cake walks and suicide missions. This led to the unofficial slogan, “Always ready to walk the dog or put it down.” Unfortunately while catchy, it didn’t exactly sound a ringing endorsement to potential clientele. While a morbid sense of humor is required for months on the front lines, or in many cases well behind the lines, it simply didn’t look right in print. Having learned that the private sector required a more “Public Friendly” image, the battered veterans of Fool’s Company did their best to portray a cleaner image, even if the jobs they performed were anything but. This is when the, “Whatever, Whenever, Whoever” sales pitch was adopted and “The Company” found themselves taking on more legitimate contracts.

In 2939 a group of BlackGrasp Pirates kidnapped noted industry Baron Gavin DeRann’s daughter. The Pirates grounded her personal transport on Nexus III, and would demand a hefty ransom for her safe return. The stand off would eventually take the better part of two weeks to reach its conclusion, and most of it played out on live broadcasts across the verse. It was only after BlackGrasp slaughtered a six man tactical Police team, that the local Navy attache suggested bringing in an outsider from the private military sector. The initial idea was that if the situation fell apart, the blame could be put squarely on the shoulders of the inexperienced mercenaries. Fool’s Company was at the time still cutting its teeth in the private sector and appeared to be the perfect scapegoat. Sixteen hours after the ink dried the Baron had his daughter back and the BlackGrasp Pirates were no longer operational. The official incident report simply states that there was a period of “Aggressive Negotiations” resulting in the return of the hostage. Two days later “The Company” had a full dossier of fresh contracts to choose from.

The last three years the Company has continued establishing itself as a viable option when there is no true viable option, and this is where Fool’s Company continues to make itself a name, and a home in the shadows of the verse.
