History

Roots and Origin

ISIS, as the name suggests, had its origin in Ancient Egypt, using the name of their god of magic, motherhood, and protection.
Originally a bazaar caravan, the group of merchants that banded together for protection and stability soon began to see the evils in the world around them.
ISIS transformed from a simple bazaar caravan to something more powerful, working with the people over several generations to add more to its repertoire.
They helped people escape poverty, defended them from raiders and pirates, and as the world changed, even helped countries gain independence.
ISIS lost power as technology grew even more rampant, until only a few remained. These few, no more than a handful, made sure their sons and daughters were taught the ways of their forefathers, thus ensuring the creed and tenets of ISIS would be kept alive for future generations.

Current Operations

Now, the universe is expanding and ISIS, transformed to fight against the terrors of hostile space, is calling to its children to once again take up arms in defence of citizens everywhere.
As the call has spread, ISIS’ daughters and sons are slowly but steadily flocking to its cause.

Since the inception of its current gestalt, ISIS, now renamed Independent Sapients’ Interstellar Services, has had its home base in its small flotilla of ships. Moving from system to system, ISIS recruited among the downtrodden and neglected.
Rumors say that a suitable asteroid has been found and wheels have been set in motion to convert it into a refuge and sanctuary.
Living quarters are planned and should be able to house entire families, complete with schools and self-sustaining hydroponics.

Manifesto

What is Independent Sapients’ Interstellar Services?

In a sprawling interstellar empire such as UEE, people risk becoming tiny cogs in the huge machinery that makes up the infrastructure. ISIS was founded to do whatever is possible to ensure the individual citizens’ rights. As it has been for millennia, money is power, and power is might.

But might does not make right!

ISIS strives to help those who through misfortune or malicious intent have been denied justice and fair treatment.
While ISIS’ services are not free, they are fair. Our profit margin is there to ensure our fleet is maintainable and eventually to ensure that it will be able expand comfortably. That being said, our fees are negotiable, and will be charged on a case-by-case basis.

It is the intention of ISIS to accomplish both short- and long-term goals by engaging in various forms of revenue-generating tasks, including (but not limited to):
  • Freelancing
  • Cargo hauling
  • Exploration
  • Passenger transportation
  • Security services
  • Bounty hunting
  • Salvage operations
  • Mining

Revenue will be split fairly between ISIS and its members. All profits received by ISIS are to be used on expanding ISIS’ fleet and expanding its operations.

Membership

  1. All who meet the requirements in the application form may join.
  2. As long as a citizen is a member of the organization, she must do her very best to uphold the rules, tenets and beliefs of ISIS.
  3. Membership may be revoked in case of repeated abuse of the codex.

Rules of Conduct

  1. Be respectful.
  2. Think before you talk. We all have our differences, so let’s just try to get along from the get-go.
  3. If you messed up, don’t be afraid to apologize.
  4. Do try to stay within the boundaries of UEE law.

Revenue

  1. All revenue gained from missions, jobs or trade in the name of ISIS is subject to a 5% organization tax. This tax is for organization upkeep (eg. rent and maintenance of facilities and ships), and is deducted from the fee for any job taken on behalf of the organization before the fee is distributed among members.

Maintenance and Insurance

  1. ISIS will provide its own kind of Insurance depending on membership type and/or rank1.
  2. ALL Ships must be insured to a certain point2 after which ISIS will provide insurance for the items lost which were not covered by basic insurance, depending on membership type and/or rank as previously stated.
  3. ISIS Insurance™ will only be paid out after case review and authorization by a member of Veteran rank or above.
  4. Each Insurance case will be handled as per-case basis and will be judged by at least two officers of Veteran rank or above.
  5. Only jobs and missions taken on behalf of ISIS are eligible for insurance.

In case of Death

  1. In the unfortunate circumstance that a member dies, his heir will be eligible for immediate membership, should she choose.
  2. Should the heir not be interested in joining, there shall be no pressure of any kind on the heir to do so.
