Monolith Industries: The World is Yours

History

Our Story:
I (Gears / Roc Mining) was reintroduced to the game by DesertFox 10 years after viewing the first trailer and having serious doubts whether the cgi gfx could ever really exist. But here we stand today and those same cgi gfx are the ones we see every time we enter a ship. There was a free fly event I was trying to get into but couldn’t find the code so I bought the most basic starter package and jumped in.

Now I was having tons of fun mining, making money, buying new clothes and exploring the system for the best place to mine. Despite having a lot of skepticism about the mining grind before trying it, I began to get hooked. There’s always that chance you hit a good patch and make a ton, while you never know when someone’s going to sneak up and blow up your hard work. As opposed to transport, however, the only thing you lose in a failed mining attempt is the time you put in, you’‘ll never fall behind and have to catch up your losses, you just have to get back out there and keep working.

Immediately I was blown away by how difficult it was, constantly trying to concentrate on several things going on at once – wiping the visor so I can see what’s going on, keeping the vehicle steady as it’s being blown around by the wind, keeping the mining laser power output optimal while it keeps fluctuating, keeping an eye on the temperature outside so I don’t freeze to death. Gritty, cold, difficult, but with the potential for huge income. I can say that I was averaging 65k / hr in a prospector and now I was averaging 200k/hr in a roc. It appeared(s) that the devs really do balance skill / risk / and reward.

Then, I realized that building bases is going to require AI and defenses, and support, and moreover a lot of money. So I needed to create a source of funding and I started to realize that Roc mining would probably end up balanced at the end of the day as the most profitable form of mining based on a fair balance of skill / risk/ and reward by the devs.

But there was still one piece left, which was if you’re going to build a settlement you’ve got to find where to build it. So, we have a means to earn money, find the best locations, and build the largest settlements, with the goal of making our first settlement a major hub for travelers who are looking to trade, live, work, and shop. We want to be a destination location.

Monolith Industries offers a comprehensive framework to experience and make the most of your time in Star Citizen. We are always looking for people with a positive energy and good attitude to hold management positions, so please let Me (Gears / RocMining) know if you are interested in being part of the Leadership team. Feel free to think out of the box and create a role you want to play, there is no preconceived set of roles.

Manifesto

The Monolith Industries Manifesto

The following Manifesto will describe the Intent, Motivation, and Organizational Structure that will form the basis of Monolith Industries.

Intent: We aim to build a self sustaining Empire though Base Building, Mining, Transport, Defense, and Social Events, but most importantly have fun and play every aspect the game offers or we can think of while being a positive force, and create a Settlement Hub or Space Station that will be known throughout the Verse.

Motivation: We aredriven by a desire to make the game more enjoyable and playable for everyone whether you own every ship in the game or just a starter package, original backer or brand new. Furthermore, we wish to create a path of gameplay that allows one to enter the game with a starter ship, tycoon your way to more expensive ships, while participating in group activities in ships it makes more sense to own in an Org than as an individual.

Org Structure: Monolith Industries is the parent company of the wholly owned subsidiary Roc and Brawl Mining. The earnings from Roc and Brawl Mining will be used to build up the assets and enable expansion by Monolith Industries. If you want to join Roc and Brawl Mining you have to join Monolith Industries too.

Monolith Industries Goals and Founding Principles:
1.) Create a path to tycoon your way thru the game while enjoying all aspects in a friendly and supportive group

2.) Host cross Org and cross Verse events that bring people together
a.) Example: We want to host a regularly scheduled dogfight tournament. The first event will be 1v1 for size 1 and size 2 weight classes with 1m in prizes (500k to each tournament winner). Then to follow up with a 3v3 team dogFight event in the future. And then a Org VS Org heavy weight division where there are no limits. We intend these tournament events to live streamed, by possibly many live streamers acting as different camera angles of the action.

3.) Work as a source of good. We have a no Grief policy which is defined as attacking and destroying Cargo Ships and Mining Ships. Ransom’s are a grey are where we are neutral.

4.) When transporting we will defend ourselves but we will also protect trade routes from hostile combat vessels to allow safe passage for trade ships.

5.) We are an Alliance focused Org looking to welcome anyone to Unite with us that shares the same values and ideals.

6.) We are looking for people who want to be involved in a social environment where teamwork and collective creativity drive us forward to see things that are out of the box. For example we have a Mountain Climbing Club. Find the list of all the activities we have thought of within this forum.

7.) Lastly we are Exclusive. If you join Monolith Industries you can join Roc and Brawl Mining as an affiliate, but no other Orgs. So you can be a part of Monolith Industries alone or also part of Roc and Brawl at the same time.

MONOLITH MANIFESTO INSIGHTS

1.) Monolith minimizes friendly fire by only attacking ships with bounties or in defense. In the event there is friendly fire while pursuing a bounty, the person with the bounty is responsible for not clearing his bounty earlier.

2.) Monolith can only disable and board cargo and mining ships with bounties.

3.) Groups should form organically and determine their own methodology for splitting profit

4.) Monolith Members should be present in our chat rooms even if playing solo or in other groups while in SC. To be quiet stay in Quiet Lounge, so that if there is an important message someone has to announce, they can just announce it there.

5.) At our core we are a think tank of ideas with the goal of having fun while not contradicting our own values.

6.) Getting a crime stat with a bounty on your head should give you reason clear the crime stat or expect to experience the jail side of gameplay.

7.) Our structure is an open architecture meant to be built by the people playing and not driven by a formal hierarchy. Management positions are there to promote the framework for organization to stay coherent, but should not interfere with the organic formation of new ideas and group activities.

8.) There are no salaried positions, the only accounting relates to the profit sharing arrangement of Roc and Brawl Mining and its independent contractors.

9.) Monolith Industries is a construct to harness the collective intelligence of like minded individuals to create the manifestation of emergence in the game.

10.) To further elaborate on the goal of having fun, the Org should not interfere with ones health outside of the game or bring about conditions where others may desire to take action outside of SC against our members.
