History

In the year 2100, the world was once again at war. TYDE, an investment management company applying artificial intelligence and quantitative methods to manage the global stock fund, was approached to bail out the faltering North American Alliance Navy. This created the first sizeable privatized military force on earth in the modern era, under the command of FADM. Demetrius Brissette, the newly formed Tyde Navy, conducted a devastating campaign of strikes against the Federation of Manchuria, earning them the moniker of Red Tyde. Unfortunately for the FoM, if the Tyde Navy was in the water, the land, sea, and air were ripe with poison. By the summer of 2102, the Now Red Tyde Military Syndicate had consolidated all the North American Alliance military power, abdicating all governmental authorities to the United Nations at the G21 summit in New Geneva.

After the peace talks, Red Tyde Military Syndicate became the de facto world police. Retaining military and civil protection contracts until the World Summit started on April 23, 2380. The World Summit ended with the historic announcement that created the United Nations of Earth (UNE). The new UNE Congress voted to abolish the Red Tyde, stating a private military power as strong as Red Tyde would not be tolerated during a time of unified peace on earth.

October 20 of the same year, the crew of the warship Stanley (belonging to the country of Amecanio) mutinied and kickstarted the First Unification War. The Stanley was disarmed but successfully influenced at least 6 other warships to revolt against the UNE government. The UNE government begged FADM. Victor Griffith for the Red Tyde to intervene, FADM. Griffith replied to his correspondence with a trailer full of the UNE rank insignia provided for his forces after their abolishment. FADM. Griffith, angered by the disregard for the lack in respect of the UNE, took his troops off-world, arriving on Centauri III shortly thereafter. FADM. Griffith offered his forces to ADJUST Colonial as their private security force in the Centari system.

Since then, the Red Tyde Syndicate has dropped military from their name, expanding into all facets of both legal and extra-legal activities. Red Tyde has, however, kept its initial military ranking structure. It’s the current FADM. Matt “Nasty” Tyde, born Matt Child-Griffith, has expanded the organization’s reach despite Red Tyde’s tenuous relationship with the UEE due to their history, Gunning for influence in the Stanton System, and being one of the first men to set foot in Pyro after its discovery.
