Reserve Expeditionary Force-179 Dragoons “GOONIES NEVER SAY DIE!!!”

History

Reserve Expeditionary Force 179 “The Dragoons” – A Mandate

Formation and Mission:

Reserve Expeditionary Force 179, known as “The Dragoons” or “The Goonies,” is established to address the United Empire of Earth’s (UEE) critical need for a specialized military task force that can operate in regions with minimal naval presence and underdeveloped infrastructure. As the UEE faces increasing threats from emerging factions and instability in distant systems, the Dragoons are tasked with extending the UEE’s influence and ensuring security in these frontier territories. Their mandate is to establish footholds in remote systems, foster stability, and promote long-term peace through a combination of military power, humanitarian aid, and local cooperation.

Founding and Operational Focus:

Under the orders of Admiral Kellan Voss, and Commanded by Commander Christophe “Rooster” DeVarenne, the Dragoons are designed as a flexible, multi-disciplinary force drawing upon the combined capabilities of the UEE Navy, UEE Army, and UEE Marines. This diverse composition allows the Dragoons to rapidly deploy, establish operational bases, and maintain a sustained presence in areas with limited resources. Their primary mission is to establish forward-operating bases (FOBs) in these systems, provide humanitarian support, assist in rebuilding infrastructure, and support the UEE’s broader military and diplomatic objectives.

The Dragoons do not operate through coercion, but through collaboration. The guiding principle of their operations is the “Dragoon Doctrine,” which emphasizes partnership with local governments and populations. They seek to empower local leaders, assist in the establishment of stable, self-sustaining communities, and engage in joint security efforts to ensure long-term peace.

The Dragoon Doctrine:

The “Dragoon Doctrine” centers on community engagement and strategic partnerships rather than the imposition of UEE authority. The Dragoons work alongside local governments, militias, and civilian organizations to build trust and cooperation, offering military and humanitarian support. The doctrine stresses the importance of UEE Army personnel for engineering and logistical operations and UEE Marines for security and peacekeeping efforts on the ground. This approach not only stabilizes the region but also integrates local forces into the broader UEE mission.

Operational Flexibility:

The Dragoons are equipped with a diverse range of military assets, offering unmatched operational flexibility. Their fleet includes the Drake Kraken carrier for command and control, the Idris K frigate for heavy fire support, and the Polaris Corvette for reconnaissance and light assault. On the ground, UEE Army engineers construct essential infrastructure such as repair yards, communication networks, and medical facilities, while UEE Marines provide the security necessary for all operations to proceed safely. This combined-force approach ensures that the Dragoons can handle a wide variety of missions, from space-based operations to boots-on-the-ground peacekeeping.

Establishing Presence:

Upon entering a new system, the Dragoons begin by securing the perimeter around their chosen FOB. UEE Marines are the first to deploy, establishing a defensive perimeter and maintaining security in the area. Simultaneously, the Dragoons’ naval assets take control of space around the planet, ensuring that no external threats can disrupt the mission. Once the area is secure, UEE Army personnel begin the construction of critical infrastructure—docking facilities, repair yards, and communication hubs. These efforts ensure that the Dragoons have the necessary support to maintain operations for the long term.

Community Engagement and Recruitment:

Simultaneously, the Dragoons engage in outreach programs designed to foster goodwill with local populations. UEE Marines lead medical aid and humanitarian efforts, while UEE Army personnel assist in infrastructure development and the creation of vital public services. These programs demonstrate the UEE’s commitment to the well-being of local populations, building trust and goodwill.

In parallel with humanitarian efforts, the Dragoons actively recruit from local populations to help bolster their ranks. Indigenous personnel are trained in military tactics, engineering, and logistics, enabling them to contribute to UEE operations and gain valuable skills. This not only strengthens the Dragoons’ presence but also helps integrate local communities into the UEE’s long-term objectives.

Legacy and Impact:

The Dragoons leave a lasting impact wherever they operate. Through their combination of military expertise, humanitarian outreach, and community engagement, they create stable, secure environments that benefit local populations and contribute to the broader goals of the UEE. Their efforts result in improved security, economic growth, and political stability across the systems they serve, fostering stronger relationships between the UEE and frontier populations.

The Reserve Expeditionary Force 179, “The Dragoons,” represents the UEE’s commitment to a comprehensive, adaptable approach to peacekeeping and security. Their work is a testament to the power of cooperation and service, ensuring that remote systems are not just secure, but also thriving. The Dragoons are a living legacy of the UEE’s dedication to a safer, more prosperous universe—one built on trust, partnership, and the shared goal of peace.

Charter

  • OUT OF CHARACTER DESCRIPTION REF-179 is best described as a light roleplay, unconventional military simulation community. On the surface it may seem like any other milsim group but in reality REF-179 is a group of roughnecks, miscreants, out of the box thinkers who are often out of place in the standard military unit. This earns them a reputation that is not always looked on favorably. Despite this, the members are often go-getters who get the job done against the odds because they did away with conventional thinking.
The “flavor” of the organization is one that may be similar to military comedies. Think of the movie Down Periscope or the television shows such as Hogan’s Heroes and McHale’s Navy with a little A-team and Star Trek thrown in. A little goofy, a little rowdy, laid back while taking their fun seriously. Ultimately they are professional warfighters that attempt to do the impossible and get away with it in the name of the Empire of Earth. Patriots all but maybe a little less “legal” than command would like. But what they don’t know won’t hurt them.
