The RailRoad is an alliance of guilds with similar beliefs.
Your members stay in your guild and also join the RailRoad for full alliance benefits. The RailRoad has no agenda other then that of its members. You keep your membership roster clean, and your internal communications stay private.

History

The RailRoad  is an alliance of guilds first founded by the 3305 Local & Looking Glass Command and named after the Underground Railroad, a network dedicated to the freedom of slaves. That’s something we all still believe in very strongly.

Having the alliance as a separate entity allows each organization to keep it’s member roster clean and internal communications private. Together we are stronger, through the alliance we all keep our unique identities. We have no fees or hidden agendas, see the Manifesto for joining requirements.

Job Openings

Military Plans and Policy Officer

The RailRoad is responsible for organizing of the defense of the alliance, this is similar to NATO. But unlike NATO, it does not have military resources or a battle command authority. This position is responsible for defense readiness, including creating squadron tactics, planning and holding joint military exercises, reports on the state of space and ground combat forces, and provides strategic assessments to the organization leaders. This position works with member organizations Space and Grand force officers, providing monthly reports on military status directly to the organization presidents, and hires staff as needed to perform the duties of the office. The goal is to optimize the organizations to provide both air and ground superiority by leveraging each organizations unique strengths.

Economic Plans and Policy Officer

This is similar to the G8 function. The position analyzes production resources across the member organizations and ensures that the military forces will be well supplied (includes both production and logistics) and provides guidance to member organizations such that rather than compete with each other, we act as a holistic group to ensure the member organizations financial success. This advisory position reports monthly directly to the Organization presidents and is responsible for hiring staff as needed to complete their assigned duties.

Job Positions

Arbiter

Monitors communication channels and expels anyone participating in hostile drama (e.g., name calling, racism, hate speech, etc.). No warnings, no excuses, no exceptions. Reinstated upon request by an officer from a member organization after restitution has been made (see charter).

Manifesto

Our job is to provide a single communication channel for all member organizations and to provide joint services where it makes sense to do so. For example, a declaration of war from the RailRoad prevents the associated stigma from member guilds and entering into treaties with other organizations can be done as a group rather than multiple single entities.

All decisions and activities in the RailRoad are democratically decided by the organizations that make it up. It does not have any fees or agenda of its own.

Membership Requirements

To join the RailRoad your organization must meet the requirements listed below and be approved by a majority of the existing organizations.

  • By joining the alliance you are entering into a mutual defense pact.
    • We watch out for one another and help when possible
    • If you declare war on your own, you’re on your own.
    • If war is declared on you, it’s declared on all of us.
  • We don’t prey on the weak or deal in slaves
  • We help each other where possible with a generous spirit
  • We treat each other respect. No Drama (e.g., hate speech).
  • Real life comes first, we’re here to play not work

Charter

  1. The Alliance includes a mutual defense pact where members will come to each others aide where reasonable (e.g., pirate members are not expected to enter high-law space, and lawful members are not expected attack UEE forces; but if we’re mining in the same area and one side is attacked by pirates the other side should assist).
  2. Members will not accept bounties, steal, or attack members of the alliance. Furthermore, members will provide no intelligence (e.g., base locations, pilot-strength) to any 3rd party what-so-ever even under lawful UEE command.
  3. Refuge, fuel, repair, and supplies will be available to visiting members just as they would be to normal members at any base of operations. Caveat: In order to maintain their standing in lawful space, lawful organizations may have to turn over visitors and their equipment based on Legally applied warrants or authorized UEE command (this should only apply if the UEE somehow knows they are there, e.g., pilot coming in with the UEE hot on their tail).
  4. Any drama between members will be settled by officers of each organization and punishments will be carried out internally. If damages were incurred, appropriate restitution will be negotiated by officers of both organization. Members involved in drama will be immediately dropped from the alliance, no exception, and must petition their organization to be reinstated.
  5. A member’s ship is their castle and we agree to trust the good intentions of alliance members. Any detection of activities against the alliances interests (e.g., transporting slaves) should be reported, with documentation, to their leaders for internal action.
  6. Membership in the alliance may be immediately suspended by command of the senior-most officer of any organization should the good intent of the alliance become reasonably suspect.
  7. The organization may permanently leave at any time.
  8. An organization may be removed if other organizations vote they are shirking their membership duties.
