History
In the far reaches of the Stanton system, where the light of distant stars flickers across the cold expanse of space, the Shadow Vanguard Alliance was born out of necessity, forged in the fires of rebellion and tempered by the brutal realities of interstellar warfare. The Alliance would come to be known as the galaxy’s fiercest defenders and most feared tactical force.
It all began in the aftermath of the Messer era, a time when the UEE (United Empire of Earth) was still reeling from decades of oppressive rule. The remnants of that tyrannical regime left scars across human colonies, deepening the divide between those who sought freedom and those who maintained loyalty to the Emperor’s old guard. Amidst the growing unrest and political turmoil, a powerful pirate king, Graxxus Ren, rose from the shadows of Pyro and terrorized the outer colonies.
Graxxus Ren commanded a vast armada of outlaws, mercenaries, and warlords. His fleet, known as the “Iron Gauntlet,” laid waste to trade routes, isolated planets, and military outposts. Even the UEE Navy struggled to contain his rapid expansion, as his forces struck without warning, leaving devastation in their wake. He sought to control the vital jump points linking Stanton to the Pyro system, aiming to choke off commerce and seize entire systems under his iron-fisted rule.
It was in this chaotic time that a group of disillusioned UEE Navy officers, elite special forces veterans, and exiled citizens from Stanton’s corporate-dominated worlds came together in secret. Bound by a shared desire to protect the people left defenseless by the UEE’s bureaucracy, these warriors formed the Shadow Vanguard Alliance (SVA), swearing to oppose both piracy and tyranny with brutal efficiency.
Their leader, Alaric Veil, a former UEE Navy Captain and tactical genius, was known for his mastery of unconventional warfare. Veil had lost his entire family to a pirate raid during a routine patrol, fueling his drive to form an alliance that would never leave the innocent unprotected. Under his leadership, the SVA adopted the tactics of shadow warfare—striking hard and fast, disappearing into the void before their enemies could mount a response. Veil modeled his new warriors after the Viking raiders of old, combining ancient warrior traditions with cutting-edge technology, creating a formidable fighting force of “Space Vikings.”
The SVA fought not for glory or the UEE’s political gain, but for the freedom of the people. They operated outside the constraints of the law, their allegiance sworn only to those who were oppressed or threatened by Ren’s pirates and the remnants of the Messer loyalists. Their sleek, black-and-gold ships became legendary, their strikes so precise that enemies whispered tales of ghostly warriors emerging from the stars, only to vanish without a trace.
Their first major battle against the Iron Gauntlet took place at GrimHEX, where Graxxus Ren’s forces held control over the station. The Shadow Vanguard, outfitted in sleek armor combining Viking aesthetics with modern exosuit technology, infiltrated the station and, in one night, reclaimed it from pirate control. Using Star Citizen’s most advanced weaponry, including the feared P-4AR rifles, they cut through Ren’s forces like a blade through darkness. The victory was swift, and it cemented the SVA’s reputation across Stanton as the defenders of the defenseless.
Over the years, the Shadow Vanguard Alliance became a powerful network of operatives, mercenaries, and spies. They expanded beyond Stanton, providing security for colonies on the fringes of UEE space, where law enforcement was little more than a distant rumor. They forged alliances with Banu merchants and even gained the respect of the Tevarin remnants, who saw in them the same warrior spirit that had once driven their own people to greatness.
Though Alaric Veil eventually passed into legend, his vision of the SVA endured. Each leader who followed wore his mantle with honor, ensuring that the Alliance remained true to its mission—protecting those whom the UEE had abandoned and defending the freedom of all who dared to reach for the stars. In the eyes of many, the SVA became more than just a military force—they were symbols of hope, icons of resistance in a galaxy where tyranny and lawlessness often walked hand in hand.
The Shadow Vanguard Alliance continues to fight across the stars, moving like ghosts in the void, ensuring no one is left to face the darkness alone. They are not merely warriors—they are protectors, the last line of defense in a universe teetering on the edge of chaos. In the endless expanse of Star Citizen’s universe, their legend grows with each battle, their banners flying high above the worlds they save.

Manifesto
We are the Shadow Vanguard Alliance (SVA), born in the darkest corners of the galaxy, forged in the fires of rebellion, and tempered by the endless void of space. We are not bound by borders, empires, or the fickle whims of politicians. We answer to no flag but our own, and we fight not for glory or power but for those who cannot fight for themselves.
We are the shield against tyranny, the sword against oppression, and the hand that lifts the broken. Wherever there is injustice, wherever the innocent are abandoned, wherever corruption threatens to strangle freedom—we will be there. We do not wait for permission to act, for we are the vanguard of a new age, an age where the forgotten and forsaken find strength in the shadow.
Our Creed:
1. Freedom Above All:
We believe in the fundamental right of all sentient beings to live free from oppression. We stand against any force—be it political, corporate, or criminal—that seeks to enslave the minds, bodies, or futures of others. The only true law is that which preserves freedom, and we will defend it with our lives.
2. Unity in the Void:
We are a brotherhood and sisterhood, bound not by blood but by purpose. Every member of the Shadow Vanguard Alliance is equal in worth and duty. We fight as one, rise as one, and if need be, we fall as one. In our ranks, there is no division of race, creed, or origin—only a shared commitment to our cause.
3. Strength through the Shadows:
We strike from the dark, where the enemy least expects. The shadows are our ally, and from them, we wield the power to protect. We do not seek glory in the light; we thrive where others fear to tread, operating with precision and discipline. Our enemies will never know where or when we will strike, but they will feel the full force of our resolve.
4. Technology is Our Weapon, Tradition is Our Soul:
We embrace the cutting edge of technology—our ships, our weapons, our strategies are designed for interstellar warfare. Yet, we hold true to the ancient warrior codes of honor and loyalty. We are Space Vikings, carrying the traditions of the past into the future, blending the wisdom of old with the power of the new.
5. No One Left Behind:
We are the protectors of the lost, the outcasts, the forgotten. We will not stand idly by while the powerful exploit the weak. Every colony abandoned by the UEE, every world left at the mercy of pirates and warlords, every individual silenced by fear—we are their shield. We do not abandon our own, and in the end, we will ensure that no one is left alone in the darkness.
Our Vision:
The Shadow Vanguard Alliance is more than a tactical force; we are a movement. We envision a galaxy where people are free from the crushing hands of imperialism, corporate greed, and unchecked violence. A galaxy where colonies, stations, and starfarers can live and prosper without fear of oppression or destruction.
We reject the hollow promises of bureaucratic empires and corrupt megacorporations. Their failures have left entire systems vulnerable to piracy, war, and collapse. We are the response to that failure. We are the sentinels who will not abandon the stars we call home.
Our Methods:
Swift and Decisive Action:
We do not wait for orders. Where we see a threat, we neutralize it. Where we see the need, we act. From rapid surgical strikes to large-scale fleet operations, we adapt and overcome.
Covert Operations:
Diplomacy has failed. Bureaucracies move too slowly. We do what must be done to destabilize the enemies of freedom, whether through infiltration, sabotage, or direct confrontation. Our methods may be shadowy, but our purpose is always clear.
Alliances for the People:
We do not stand alone. We forge alliances with the outcasts, the traders, the smugglers, and the forgotten. We protect those who protect us, and we extend our hand to any who share our cause. Trust is not given, but earned through mutual respect and shared struggle.
Our Enemies:
We have many, for we oppose any who seek to dominate, control, or destroy the lives of the free.

The Shadow Vanguard Alliance

Charter
Adopted in the year 2948, following the formation of the Shadow Vanguard Alliance, to govern its operations, members, and purpose across the stars.
Article I: Mission Statement
The Shadow Vanguard Alliance (SVA) exists to safeguard freedom, defend the defenseless, and stand as a bulwark against tyranny and exploitation. We operate beyond the constraints of law and bureaucracy, taking action where traditional forces cannot or will not. We fight to protect those who have been abandoned by political and corporate powers and to restore peace and security to the outer systems and all free peoples of the galaxy.
Article II: Membership
Eligibility:
Membership in the SVA is open to all individuals, regardless of race, creed, or origin, provided they pledge to uphold the principles of the Alliance: freedom, unity, and protection of the defenseless.
Oath of Allegiance:
All members must swear the SVA Oath of Allegiance, binding them to the cause and values of the Alliance:
“In the shadow of the stars, I rise. I pledge my life, my honor, and my strength to the Shadow Vanguard Alliance. I shall defend the weak, strike down the oppressor, and fight for freedom. Until my last breath, I serve the Alliance and its people.”
Rights of Members:
a. Every member has the right to express their opinions in matters of strategy, alliance politics, and operations, without fear of reprisal.
b. Every member is entitled to the support and protection of the Alliance, both in combat and personal affairs, within reason.
c. Rank and status within the Alliance are determined by merit, skill, and contribution to the cause.
Duties of Members:
a. Members are expected to participate actively in operations and defense missions as required.
b. Members must protect the secrecy and integrity of the Alliance at all costs.
c. Every member shall defend fellow members and uphold the values of the SVA, both in public and private interactions.
Article III: Leadership
High Vanguard Council:
The High Vanguard Council serves as the governing body of the Shadow Vanguard Alliance. It is composed of five senior members, known as the High Vanguards, who are elected by the general membership every five standard years. The Council makes strategic decisions, manages resources, and determines the course of the Alliance’s operations.
Commander of the Vanguard:
The Commander of the Vanguard, chosen by the High Vanguard Council, holds the highest authority during combat operations and high-stakes missions. The Commander’s word is law during battle, and all tactical decisions fall under their command.
Ranks:
High Vanguard: The highest decision-making authority.
Commander of the Vanguard: Leader during military operations.
Vanguard Captain: Leader of specific combat units and operations.
Vanguard Specialist: Elite members with advanced skills in technology, combat, or espionage.
Vanguard Soldier: Core fighting force, trained in space warfare and tactical operations.
Vanguard Initiate: New recruits, undergoing training and evaluation.
Removal from Leadership:
Any member of the High Vanguard Council or Commander of the Vanguard may be removed by a unanimous vote of the remaining council members or by a petition signed by 75% of the membership. Grounds for removal include gross negligence, betrayal of the Alliance’s values, or failure to lead effectively.
Article IV: Code of Conduct
Loyalty to the Alliance:
All members must prioritize the needs and goals of the Alliance above their own personal interests. Treason, abandonment in battle, or aiding the enemy will result in expulsion and, in extreme cases, execution.
Discretion in Operations:
Members must exercise extreme caution when discussing the Alliance’s activities. Information leaks can be devastating, and any unauthorized disclosure of Alliance secrets is considered an act of treason.
Treatment of Civilians:
Civilians are to be treated with respect and protected wherever possible. The SVA does not engage in indiscriminate violence or harm to innocent lives. Any violation of this principle will result in immediate disciplinary action.
Unity and Brotherhood:
No member shall betray or endanger another member of the Alliance. The bond of trust within the SVA is sacred, and any breach of this trust is considered a grave offense.
Operational Discipline:
During operations, all members are expected to follow orders and execute their duties with precision. While opinions and suggestions are welcome, insubordination during active missions will not be tolerated.
Article V: Operational Directives
Tactical Warfare:
The Shadow Vanguard Alliance specializes in tactical strikes, covert operations, and asymmetric warfare. We fight from the shadows, using the element of surprise and superior technology to overcome our enemies. We are not a standing army but an elite force designed for precision and rapid intervention.
Covert Operations:
The SVA engages in espionage, sabotage, and infiltration to destabilize enemy operations and protect vulnerable systems. Covert missions are authorized by the High Vanguard Council and carried out by specialists trained in stealth and subterfuge.
Allied Support:
The Alliance does not stand alone. We forge alliances with outcast colonies, independent merchants, and other freedom fighters who share our values. While we do not serve any government or corporation, we recognize the power of collaboration in times of crisis.
Resource Acquisition:
In order to remain independent of the UEE and corporate megastructures, the SVA acquires resources through raids on enemy supply lines, trade agreements with neutral parties, and salvaging from abandoned or enemy vessels.
Article VI: Discipline and Justice
Internal Disputes:
All disputes between members shall be resolved within the Alliance. A Vanguard Captain may mediate smaller disputes, while the High Vanguard Council will arbitrate more significant conflicts.
Punishments:
a. Minor offenses (e.g., insubordination, negligence) may result in demotion, suspension from operations, or a probationary period.
b. Major offenses (e.g., treason, endangerment of fellow members) result in expulsion or execution by decision of the High Vanguard Council.
Trial by Combat:
In rare cases, when two members are locked in a serious dispute and mediation fails, a Trial by Combat may be called. This ceremonial duel is fought under strict rules, and the victor’s position is upheld. The trial is overseen by a High Vanguard.
Article VII: Amendments
Proposals for Amendments:
Any member of the Alliance may propose amendments to the Charter. Proposed amendments must be submitted to the High Vanguard Council in writing and gain the support of at least 10% of the membership to be brought to a vote.
Approval of Amendments:
Amendments to the Charter require a two-thirds majority vote of the membership and the approval of the High Vanguard Council.
Article VIII: Dissolution
Conditions for Dissolution:
The Shadow Vanguard Alliance may only be dissolved by a unanimous decision of the High Vanguard Council or in the event of the complete destruction of the Alliance’s leadership.
Legacy and Continuation:
Should the Alliance face dissolution, its members shall be free to carry on its mission independently, using the knowledge, skills, and resources gained during their service to continue the fight for freedom.
