The Faceless
A Decade of Shadows and Opportunity

Year 1-3: The Seeds of Discontent (2944-2946)

The initial spark was not a grand plan, but a shared frustration. A small group of independent contractors, traders, and information brokers, each operating on the fringes of legitimate society, found themselves repeatedly hindered by corporate bureaucracy and corrupt officials. These individuals, drawn together by chance encounters and shared grievances, began to exchange information and collaborate on small-scale operations. They realized that their collective skills and knowledge were far more valuable than their individual efforts. The first “Faceless” operations focused on information gathering and discreet trading, exploiting loopholes and navigating the gray areas of the law. They began to build a reputation for reliability and discretion, attracting the attention of other like-minded individuals. During this period, the concept of a loose, unstructured organization began to form, with a focus on anonymity and mutual support.

Year 4-6: Forging an Identity (2947-2949)

As their numbers grew, the need for a guiding hand became apparent. A charismatic and experienced information broker, known only as “The Guide,” emerged as the de facto leader, establishing the principles of courtesy, cooperation, and “honorable piracy.” The “Faceless” began to expand their operations, taking on more complex contracts and venturing into riskier territories. They became known for their ability to adapt to any situation, whether it involved smuggling contraband, recovering lost data, or mediating disputes between rival factions. The code regarding honorable piracy was established after a few members took a job that involved the slaughter of a civilian transport. “The Guide” made it clear that such actions would not be tolerated, and that if piracy was to be undertaken, there had to be a code. The use of subtle identifiers, such as encrypted comms frequencies and discreet digital tags, became more prevalent, allowing members to recognize each other without compromising their anonymity.

Year 7-9: Expanding Influence (2950-2952)

The “Faceless” established a network of hidden bases and safe havens throughout the ‘verse, providing secure locations for operations and resource sharing. Their reputation for reliability and discretion attracted the attention of powerful clients, including corporate executives, political operatives, and even criminal syndicates. The “Faceless” became adept at navigating the complex political landscape of the ‘verse, using their information network to anticipate threats and exploit opportunities. They began to take on contracts that allowed them to manipulate the flow of information, and the flow of resources, allowing them to affect the larger star citizen universe. The figurehead role became more defined, as “The Guide” stepped back, and a new leader was chosen, through a process that remains a secret to most of the members. The leader is known as “The Figurehead.”

Year 10: The Present and Beyond (2953)

The “Faceless” continue to operate in the shadows, their influence growing with each successful operation. They are a force to be reckoned with, respected and feared in equal measure. Their ability to adapt and operate on both sides of the law makes them a valuable asset to those who seek to navigate the complexities of the ‘verse. The “Faceless” continue to recruit individuals with exceptional skills and a desire to forge their own path, ensuring their continued success in the years to come.

The Faceless

“We are the whispers in the void, the shadows in the neon glow. We are the Faceless, a collective of individuals united by purpose, not by rank or rigid structure. We move through the ‘verse, unbound by the constraints of corporate greed or governmental decree.

Our Purpose:

To Navigate the Gray: We exist in the spaces between the black and white, where opportunity thrives and information is power. We are as comfortable trading in the bustling ports of Lorville as we are retrieving lost data from derelict ships in the Pyro system.

To Embrace Versatility: We are not bound to a single trade or activity. We are pilots, traders, bounty hunters, information brokers, and more. We adapt to the needs of the moment, mastering any skill necessary to achieve our objectives.

To Uphold a Code: Though we operate in the shadows, we are not without principles. Courtesy and cooperation are the cornerstones of our unity. We honor our agreements and treat those we encounter with respect, even in the midst of conflict. When piracy is deemed necessary, we do so with a sense of honor, offering the chance to surrender, and avoiding unneeded harm.

To Gather and Disseminate Information: Knowledge is our most valuable asset. We seek out hidden truths, uncover corporate secrets, and map the ever-changing landscape of the ‘verse. We share this information amongst ourselves, ensuring our collective success.

To Challenge the Status Quo: We are not beholden to any single power. We question authority, challenge corruption, and seek to maintain a balance of power in the ‘verse. We will take contracts that further that goal, regardless of the legality of said contracts.

To Provide Sanctuary: We offer a haven for those who seek freedom from the constraints of rigid organizations. We welcome individuals with unique skills and a desire to contribute to our collective.

To Remain Unseen: Our strength lies in our anonymity. We operate in the shadows, leaving no trace. We are the ghosts in the machine, the whispers in the dark.

Charter

The Codex Faceless

This charter outlines the core principles and expectations for all members of The Faceless. By joining this organization, you agree to uphold these tenets and contribute to the collective success of our syndicate.

Article I: Anonymity and Discretion

Section 1.1: Members shall maintain the anonymity of The Faceless and its members. Revealing personal information or operational details to unauthorized individuals is strictly prohibited.

Section 1.2: Members shall exercise discretion in their activities, avoiding unnecessary attention or actions that would discredit the name of the syndicate.

Article II: Courtesy and Cooperation

Section 2.1: Members shall treat each other with respect and courtesy, regardless of individual skills or experience.

Section 2.2: Members shall assist each other in operations and provide support when possible.

Section 2.3: Disputes between members shall be resolved through communication and mediation, with The Figurehead’s guidance as the final authority.

Article III: The Code of Conduct

Section 3.1: Members shall uphold the principles of “honorable piracy” when engaging in such activities.

This includes:

Clear and unambiguous demands for surrender.
Respect for surrendered parties, avoiding unnecessary violence.
Targeting cargo and industry ships only.
No targeting of medical vessels, new players or ships transporting people.

Section 3.2: Members shall honor agreements and contracts, both within and outside the syndicate.

Section 3.3: Members shall refrain from actions that would bring undue harm or disrepute to The Faceless.

Section 3.4: Information is a resource. Members will share information that is useful to the group, and protect sensitive information.

Article IV: The Figurehead’s Authority

Section 4.1: The Figurehead acts as the guiding force of The Faceless, providing direction and resolving disputes.

Section 4.2: Members shall respect The Figurehead’s decisions and follow their directives.

Section 4.3: The Figurehead’s identity and selection process shall remain confidential.

Article V: Operational Guidelines

Section 5.1: Members shall treat others with respect and dignity, inside and outside the syndicate.

Section 5.2: Hate speech and discrimination will not be tolerated.

Article VI: Membership and Termination

Section 6.1: Membership of The Faceless is granted by the process of acceptance then approval.

Section 6.2: Members who violate this charter or act against the interests of The Faceless may be subject to disciplinary action, including termination of membership.

Section 6.3: A member can leave the syndicate, but they are expected to keep the secrets of the syndicate.

Article VII: Amendments

Section 7.1: This charter is subject to amended, at The Figurehead’s discretion.
