History

Founded:
In 2881, by a collective of independent engineers and traders dissatisfied with the quality and availability of ship components in the burgeoning UEE.

Early Years (2881 – 2900):

  • Humble Beginnings:
The Universal Craft & Trade Solution started as a small cooperative operating out of a repurposed cargo hauler in the Davien system. They focused on repairing and modifying existing ship components, gradually gaining a reputation for their quality workmanship and fair prices.
  • The Magnus Drive Incident:
In 2889, the UCTS gained notoriety for reverse-engineering a damaged Magnus Drive recovered from a derelict Tevarin vessel. This breakthrough allowed them to produce improved versions of the drive, significantly enhancing the performance of jump drives across the UEE. This event attracted the attention of both investors and the UEE Navy.
  • Expansion and Formalization:
With newfound resources and recognition, the UCTS established its first permanent headquarters on a station in the Stanton system. They expanded their operations to include the production of entire ship components, weapons, and even complete ship modifications. The organization formalized its structure, establishing a hierarchy of master craftsmen, journeymen, and apprentices.

The Golden Age (2900 – 2930):

  • The Xi’an Partnership:
In 2905, the UCTS made a bold move by establishing trade relations with the Xi’an Empire. This controversial but ultimately successful partnership gave them access to rare materials and advanced Xi’an manufacturing techniques. The UCTS became renowned for its innovative hybrid technology, blending human and Xi’an engineering principles.
  • The Crucible Station:
In 2918, the UCTS constructed its flagship station, the Crucible. This massive orbital facility housed state-of-the-art workshops, research labs, and a bustling marketplace. It became a central hub for crafting and trade in the UEE, attracting talented artisans and merchants from across the galaxy.
  • The Vanduul Wars:
During the escalating Vanduul Wars, the UCTS played a crucial role in supplying the UEE military with high-quality weapons and ship upgrades. Their contributions helped turn the tide of several key battles, solidifying their reputation as patriots and masters of their craft.

Challenges and Adaptation (2930 – 2954):

  • The Synthworld Crisis:
The Synthworld disaster in 2935 caused widespread economic instability and disrupted trade routes. The UCTS faced shortages of raw materials and a decline in demand for luxury goods. They adapted by focusing on essential components and repair services, ensuring the continued operation of vital supply chains.
  • The Messer Era:
The oppressive Messer regime imposed heavy regulations and taxes on independent organizations, hindering the UCTS’s operations. They navigated this challenging period by forming alliances with other guilds and discreetly supporting anti-Messer movements.
  • The Age of Piracy:
The rise of piracy in the wake of the Messer era posed a constant threat to the UCTS’s trade fleets. They invested heavily in security measures, forming their own private security force and forging alliances with reputable mercenary groups.

Universal Craft & Trade Solution in 2954:

  • A Legacy of Excellence:
The Universal Craft & Trade Solution remains a prominent force in the UEE economy, known for its unwavering commitment to quality and innovation. They continue to produce high-performance ship components, weapons, and modifications, catering to both civilian and military markets.
  • Embracing the Future:
The UCTS is actively involved in researching and developing new technologies, including advancements in quantum drives, energy weapons, and shield systems. They are also exploring opportunities in emerging markets, such as the development of terraforming equipment and exploration vessels.
  • A Thriving Community:
The Crucible station remains a bustling hub for artisans and traders, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing. The UCTS hosts regular events, competitions, and workshops, attracting talented individuals from across the ‘verse.
  • The Universal Craft & Trade Solution’s history is intertwined with the history of the UEE itself.
They have witnessed and adapted to major events, contributing significantly to the technological advancement and economic prosperity of the empire. As Star Citizen continues to evolve, the Universal Craft & Trade Solution will undoubtedly continue to play a vital role in shaping the future of the ‘verse.
