Company Profile: YeBies (Yelan Beverage & Supplies)
Founded: 2941 | Headquarters: Orison, Crusader | Sector: Beverage and Supply Logistics within the Yela Region
YeBies was founded in 2941 by former miner Derek Noon. Previously employed by a small mining company called Flame on the frozen moon of Yela, Noon was forced to retire due to severe respiratory illness and a chronic lung condition resistant to treatment. Following his departure from Flame—which would later gain notoriety as part of the radical mining collective known as A.M.C.Y. (Asteroid Mining Corporation of Yela)—Noon turned his focus to a new endeavor: transporting beverages and supplies to remote outposts across Yela, including the infamous Everline Structure Green Imperial Housing Exchange, now commonly known as Grim Hex. Even then, the station had become a haven for squatters, fugitives, and petty criminals.
One of the station’s key establishments, the Old 38 Bar, run by bartender Trevor, relied on a variety of suppliers to maintain its diverse drink selection sourced from across the system. Inspired by his passion for Smoltz and Radegast—working-class favorites—Noon recognized the untapped potential of independent beverage delivery.
With a modest amount of savings and a self-produced, memorable ad campaign showcasing the unifying power of Smoltz and Radegast—even between pirates and security forces—Noon initially operated as a freelance supplier. The message: “Even in the darkest times, there must be room for a good drink.”
Equipped with a self-financed MISC Freelancer and a small hangar on Orison, Noon began supplying the entire Yela sector. Despite the challenges—harsh cold, unstable infrastructure, and the ever-present threat of syndicates, smugglers, and, from 2943 onward, the infamous Nine Tails gang—he persisted.
In addition to beverages, Noon gradually expanded into supplying workwear for mining crews. This diversification led to the official founding of YeBies – Yelan Beverage & Supplies in 2941.
A personal tragedy would soon change everything. From a previous marriage, Noon had a daughter named Vanessa, who had joined the humanitarian group FREYA (Free Yelan Aid Organization) based on Grim Hex. Operating a Cutlass Red, FREYA conducted medical aid missions throughout the Yela asteroid belt, assisting those without insurance or recognized civil status. On November 25, 2950, FREYA’s ship was destroyed in a still-unresolved attack. The wreckage was nearly obliterated—only a single bloodstained helmet fragment was recovered. Vanessa has been missing since, presumed dead.
Devastated by the loss of his daughter, Noon withdrew entirely. He ceased his delivery routes and vanished. Shortly thereafter, his attorney acted on his behalf: in a formal legal letter, Noon appointed his longtime friend Commander Kjeld Stormarnson, founder of the private military company TYR Security & PMC, as interim administrator of YeBies.
Overburdened by his duties at TYR, Stormarnson refrained from taking an active operational role. Instead, he retrieved a pre-ordered Argo RAFT, originally meant to replace Noon’s missing Freelancer, and appointed a new general manager in November 2951: Deimos Flatcat, a dishonorably discharged UEE Navy serviceman with deep ties to the underbelly of Grim HEX.
Deimos is the son of Cuddler Flatcat, a well-known GrimNeck Radio host and veteran squatter. From an early age, Deimos accompanied his father through the back alleys of Grim Hex, growing up among the shadow networks of the station. Despite his origins, Deimos has publicly distanced himself from any criminal affiliations.
Under his leadership, the old Orison hangar was fully renovated, and the Argo RAFT—christened Dvergatal—was converted into YeBies’ mobile operations base. In 2955, Deimos launched a physical YeBies storefront within the hangar, offering not only beverages but also workwear, casual clothing, and selected goods—subject to availability.
Today, YeBies remains a small but resilient enterprise, firmly rooted in the Yela-Crusader region. The vision of Derek Noon lives on through Deimos Flatcat, driven by the belief that even in the roughest corners of the ‘verse, an honest drink can still bring people together.
YeBies – More Than Just Supplies
YeBies sees itself not merely as a supplier of beverages and work essentials, but as a bearer of a philosophy: the lived tradition of the “Simple Way of Life”, rooted in the GrimNeck subculture that originated on Grim Hex. This way of life—defined by modesty, reuse, and social solidarity—is at the core of YeBies’ identity.
Beyond classic surplus goods, YeBies offers a curated selection of rare and nearly forgotten beverage specialties from across the known systems. Many of these items are purposefully rescued from waste, traded, or stored—preserving flavors and experiences that have vanished elsewhere, while reducing unnecessary resource loss.
A particular focus lies in serving the working class of the UEE: people who labor daily under harsh conditions and deserve access to honest products at fair prices. YeBies makes this access possible—simple, affordable, and direct.
In addition to beverages, YeBies regularly offers clothing, durable work gear, toolkits, and safety footwear sourced from surplus stock—perfect for those who’d rather skip countless cargo decks. Whether visiting the YeBies Store on Orison or ordering on-demand: availability and fair trade always come first.
YeBies deliberately avoids the pursuit of industrial expansion or a seat among the galaxy’s mega-corporations. Instead, it operates as a lean, efficient small business with deep local roots—serving customers regardless of background, status, or origin.
Moreover, YeBies is committed to keeping its surroundings clean: empty bottles and cans can be returned at the Orison hangar store in exchange for a small deposit in credits and loyalty points. This encourages responsible recycling and gives customers a tangible incentive not to toss empty containers on the ground or into the nearest shadowy corner, but to return them into the supply loop with purpose.
